See if he can email you some pics; people get all kinds of stuff mixed up on these scooters.

Re: HID to LED

Its funny, I have a spree I'm working on that has a switched headlight. Thought it was pretty  but now I might need to try it out and see if I can notice a difference.

Re: How do I zip tie the oil pump on my elite S

On the restricted models the throttle cable only goes to the carb but not the oil pump. After de-restricting its a very good idea to use a zip tie to increase the oil delivery.

Re: Spree, Starter problem and running issue.

I dealt with a gummed up/stuck petcock by soaking it in gas for a few days. You can test the thing by just hooking up a vac line and sucking on it while watching to see if the diaphragm moves (or by watching for fuel flow in the fuel line if its still connected to the tank). If you can't get the dia...

Re: How do I zip tie the oil pump on my elite S

There should be a lever on your oil pump that you can move with your hand, this is what you use a zip-tie to keep open as its spring loaded to stay in the 'low' setting.

Re: Spree Wont Start

Have you done anything to verify the itsy-bitsy idle circuit is clear?

You can also try blocking off the intake with a rag (or disconnecting the airbox and using your hand directly on the carb). If it runs like that then you have a clog.

Re: Spree-oh-five - chevyguyjay style

OK, I've been tinkering with this project on and off and think I've got my problems sorted out. First, for whatever reason the throttle cable doesn't have enough length to let the throttle close all the way. After verifying some measurements with another forum member I have a proper one on the way. ...

I got lucky there, the motor I used ('85 Aero) had the same connectors right off the bat.

Sounds like you're well on the way, but heres the build thread for my swap if you're interested:

Re: Spree Wont Start

Clean the carb again. Something probably got loose in the bowl and got sucked into the idle circuit.

Also you should probably replace your air filter, or at least inspect/re-oil it.

Re: Advice on '86 Spree

Unfortunately I think both the BBK's will be marked as 49cc, so you'll just have to trust what the owner tells you. Did it lose compression before or after the BBK was installed? If the BBK lost compression so quickly they probably ran it lean or it let loose a circlip (which typically seizes the mo...

Re: stuck screws.

Yamaha used screws to hold the belt cover on the vino I had, much to my displeasure. Luckily I was able to remove all the screws either with a screwdriver or by dremeling them to work w/ a flat head driver, after which I promptly went to the hardware store and bought replacement bolts.

Re: HID to LED

The headlight has its own pickup in the stator. Deleting this creates a "racing stator" as it no longer powers a headlight. I converted my blinkers to LEDs on my Aero (always under construction) to reduce the current required so they would work when idling w/o a battery. Using an automotiv...

Re: MLM is now making Honda Spree performance pipes!

The af05 pipe would be something I'd be extremely interested in, but it would need to fit a motor that was swapped onto a spree

Thanks for posting that info up, just ordered one myself!

The foam uni filter I have is proving difficult to block off adequately, hopefully this ends up being the last piece I need to get everything dialed in correctly.
