I'd like to get a complete motor that I can disassemble, clean up, reassemble to understand how it works. Reading manuals is good but I learn better hands on. What actually happens when they say motor is "seized"? Can the motor be rebuilt and be used again? if I found a bike on CL or a gar...

One was on the bike when i got it. Bought 2nd used he said he "bench tested it". 3rd was from a guy Bear recommended "new in the box". I have the 4th on the bike - which won't start when cold. Killerpancake said he tested them on a battery.

I've put the 4th bystarter on the '87 se50. Could be I had bad bystarters to begin with but is there anything electrical on the bike that could be killing them?

Killer, i bought the bystarter from ebay on Bear's recommendation. I can put it on if you want to get the bike out of your way. Unless you want to be sure it runs after we get the part. Thanks!

i bought the one that Bear sent me the link. "Brand new, in the original box". That's the one that's dead. Figure I can't send it back. Tossed the box cuz I thought the part was good. Bought a used one locally and the dealer broke it. How do i know that I'm getting a good one off ebay? Bee...

did you find a bystarter?

It is a new air filter. No charge for oil on the bill so can't tell ya what kind they used. Did charge me 1/2 hr to change oil and replace plug. There wasn't any oil in it!!

It's an 87 se50 non-Iowa. Dealer said bad bystarter. Picked up used and was told it was bench tested. Dealer broke the prongs off that holds the brass piece. Got a (supposedly) brand new, in the box bystarter. Done with dealer.

Please accept apology for not using search. I usually do and I totally spaced out in my quick need for a carrier.

Anyone have recommendations for a good carrier? One at harbor freight doesn't have the best reviews. thanks

Have '87 se50 and the key which works in ignition. The key doesn't turn in the cylinder of seat release lock. Tried graphite, etc. Anyone disassembled a lock? Should the numbers on the ignition key match the numbers on the seat release lock? Maybe someone swapped the lock out so it doesn't match the...
