I've finished the clean and blow out of the carb, however when its still over oiling the plug. I have wound the air screw all the way out in order to lean it out, but still no joy

Well, theres no need to worry about sustained running at high temp, as I cant even get running at any temp currently!! I reckon you might have the good oil there as the rego label tells me it is an '88 model, but the dating stamp on the side covers says Feb '86.
