Re: enjoying your Spree

I think a lot of people enjoy many aspects of owning a tiny scooter be it for bragging rights, relaxation, or a puzzle to solve. I try to keep at least one scooter running reliably and close to stock so I can take it for a relaxing ride when the scooter I'm trying to make faster explodes and catches...

Re: Sb50p sticker bomb build

It may be worth noting that I live in an area with a lot of hills so top speed will be a luxury. I'm looking for low to mid range acceleration, which is close to where I'm getting the most torque now, fortunately.

Re: Sb50p sticker bomb build

I was hoping to get a temp gauge at some point, I've been keeping the rides short for the moment as a precaution. I had no idea it could overheat to the point of seizing on deceleration. The first time I took it out I couldn't believe how hard engine braking was. I hoped it meant I was getting good ...

Re: Sb50p sticker bomb build

I noticed it was a pretty slow off the line when I first got it going. I wasn't sure if it was just because the air box had been messed with or if it was just made to be a little gutless off the line. Since I opened it up a little it seems to be a little faster from a stop than it was, which I find ...

Re: Sb50p sticker bomb build

Will do. I like figuring stuff out for myself, other wise you miss out on a lot of possibilities because narrow minded people tell you it's not possible ;)

Re: Sb50p sticker bomb build

It's Alive! Just ran 33-34mph on a flat piece of road both directions! The top speed isn't even the best part on the way home I was going up hills at 25mph that I could only do 15-20 up with the stock exhaust. I was giggling to myself the whole way home, I haven't been this excited by a scooter sin...

Re: Sb50p sticker bomb build

As far as the clutch and belt go I haven't opened the transition cover yet because I'm still waiting on some gasket material to come in but I'll check it when it does. Hopefully I have some stiffer springs that will fit the clutch to help off the line and I'm guessing I will most likely need a new b...

Re: Sb50p sticker bomb build

According to Honda (the people who make this scooter) a 1989 sb50p shouldn't pass 30mph on flats. This is because it would violate motorcycle licensing laws in a number of states. I appreciate your concerns and to be honest would probably give the same advice to someone else. With that being said I'...

Re: Sb50p sticker bomb build

Don't know what to tell you everything I've found online says that my 1989 sb50p Elite E is intentionally limited to 30 mph so that it didn't require additional licensing. As it stands I hit 30 mph on flats which seems to be par for this scooter. All I've done so far is use a uni foam filter. The ex...

Re: Sb50p sticker bomb build

It's an sb50p, no variator and meant to go 30 max for licensing. the "sb50" is a faster version but i don't think they were ever sold in the U.S. and if they were i didn't get one

Re: Sb50p sticker bomb build

I like a challenge. The reason I'm trying to get to 35mph with the stock motor is because everyone keeps telling me I can't. I'm working on an 80s single gear 2 stroke, I know its going to be an uphill battle. Tomorrow will bring the truth and I'll accept apologies then, or maybe I'll make some apol...

Re: Sb50p sticker bomb build

Well, I do know how a 2 stroke works and I can tell you that the propane tank will certainly redirect more "sound waves" back at the exhaust pipe than the stock one did. The stock exhaust only works by limiting the overall volume of exhaust expelled and not by timing the echo. I know I'm n...
