Re: Elite 80 acceleration problems

I took the carb off today, checked it all out - seemed clean. Looked at my other carb, diaphragm was seated the same way. Put it all back together and it accelerates fine - not sure what I did or if I did, and don't really care. Got the idle and mix screws set pretty close and went out for a test dr...

Re: Elite 80 acceleration problems

Didn't have much time yesterday, but I did clean all the grounds and checked connections. I had already adjusted the valves - it was a first for me and it took forever to get it right (at least I hope it was right) - was not able to get the feeler gage thru at all when I started but got it thru with...

Re: Elite 80 acceleration problems

Thanks - I set the valve clearance today which didn't seem to change anything. I cleaned the carb - used dip overnight but I haven't had experience with any carbs using the diaphragm before. I'll pull it back off and go over it a little more closely. I'm pretty sure I had it seated right, but I didn...

Elite 80 acceleration problems

Working on a 2003 Elite CH80. Current problem is that it will hold idle but any attempt to accelerate bogs down. Also, it seems to randomly accelerate on its own while idling. Here are some of the checks I've made so far: Went thru all of the electrical checks with the only thing out of range being ...

Re: 84 Spree Carburetor damage?

I see an 86 carburetor on ebay for a reasonable price - does anyone know if this will fit an 84 (I know the bystarter is different but I'm only interested in the carb body.

84 Spree Carburetor damage?

Hi all, Just picked up an 84 Spree and I'm going thru the tear-down and examine process trying to get it running. Everything was going smoothly - missing a few minor parts but nothing significant. Placed the carb in dip last night - it was missing the air screw so I ordered it. When I pulled it out ...

Elite 80 Starting enrichment valve

Hi all, Just picked up a 2003 CH80 and an 84 Spree - I just wanted the Spree but the package deal was too good to turn down. Neither was running but both were complete and the Elite came with a 97 parts bike - almost complete except plastics and lights. The 2003 Elite and the Spree look great and th...

new to Sprees - questions on purchase opportunity

Hi all, I'm new to Sprees although I have some experience buying old no-peds and restoring. I've been watching for a reasonably priced Spree project for my daughter (turning 15) and I am going to look at one tonight - priced at $200.00 (planning to offer a little less). I've attached the pics I was ...

First Spree - looks like an 86

Hi all, I am new to this forum and to Sprees. Got the bug last year by picking up an '81 Honda NX50 SR. Enjoyed the process but found it difficult to complete due to certain parts being difficult to find. Since then, an '82 FA50, an '80 NA50 II Express, and an '81 Passport 70 - all complete and runn...
