Re: AF05E crank fits an elite e case

The Elite ES (Pal) was variated. From what I've read, it had a wider belt case than an Elite E. Maybe the ES used the same crank as the bigger Elite 50.

You know, that setup could be more viable in a street application if the expansion chamber was based off something like a Proma or Technigas circuit-style pipe...

Re:

Now maybe someone has designed a 2-cycle engine with a turbo, but please explain the physics behind it. Not that it was done. It has been done. Saw a 50cc turbo in a Bonneville record attempt setup. The turbo placement looks weird but makes some sense: It's bolted on after the expansion chamber, so...

Re: SB50P Hard to Start

The needle moved up makes no sense, in that it has nothing to do with starting. Moving the needle down and having it run says the float level could be set too low. Honestly Bear, I was grasping at straws. I moved the needle down to see if it was running off fuel from the main or the pilot. Since I ...

SB50P Hard to Start

A friend of mine had acquired an '89 Elite E for his mom and asked me to help him get it running. Here's where it stands: I've completely dismantled the carb per instructions in the Wiki pictoral guide, even pulled/cleaned the emulsion tube. If you blast carb cleaner up the pilot pickup tube, it com...

Re: Gonna shoe horn a CH80 into a spree

I have an '87 CH80 Elite with 12K on the clock. It's pulling 45-46mph with a (new) stock muffler and pretty new belt. The only mods are a filter made from UNI green foam (glued into a stock paper filter cage with Seal-All) and 8g rollers in the variator. The filter and rollers helped overcome the bo...

I'm in Tucson, but my Spree is currently inop. Getting parts now, should have it up and running by August.

Re: Request for input - Parts Spree 84/85 vs 86/87 and SB50

The fan shroud is bigger on the '86-'87 Spree than the the '84-'85 Spree. The late fan shroud does not fit onto an early case correctly; it appears that the casting was enlarged on the later engines. The fan on the later Sprees is not only larger, but is visually different. The early fan supports th...

Hopping Up A Spree: Which Block Is Best?

Thanks to dem0nk1d, FailSpree has a viable powerplant. From the bits and bobs of other engines I've collected, I plan to build up a kitted and re-geared engine too. My question is:What would make the best baseline for a kitted NQ/05? Final gearing is irrelevant, as I'm using Tazland's gears. Current...

Re: dual sport tires

So says the Wheelman:
I have read that 2.75 is absolute max for Sprees.
If memory serves me correctly, Shelton squeezed those 3.00-10 whitewalls onto his murdered-out Spree. From personal experience, I think that 2.75 or larger requires one to abandon the inner fender/airbox.

Re: Zuma vs Ruckus

So sez the Wheelman: Back on topic, if it's not GPS, it's not very reliable. There's no reason to believe Yamaha's speedos are any better. I'd agree to this. The speedometer on my XC180 consistently reads 10% high. :surprise: If you want weird, the speedometer on my P200E is consistently 5mph slow, ...

Re: 1982 honda express sr two speed scooter

It has a CVT. You will not feel the shift, between the low power of the motor and the heavy roller weights (weighed my stock ones at 13g each!). Not sure about the rear fender clearance, as mine didn't have the rear fender, but I was able to fit 3.00-10 tires on it. My stock airbox was gone too, so ...

Re: Gurus: are these parts interchangeable?

Noticed something else when installing dem0nk1d's old '87 engine into the FailSpree. The pulser (trigger) coil for the '87 has only one wire (signal) while FailSpree's original coil had two wires (signal and ground). I'm wondering if I need to use FailSpree's pulser or if things will work fine as-is?

Re: Gyro Starter

I have all the parts I need now, thanks to Mouse and Jack's Small Engines. Cleaned all the corrosion and trash out of the motor can and the base plate and dressed the commutator. One question: one of the old starter brush leads appears to have spot-welded to the post on the base plate. If I remove t...

Re: Mag puller. Any body know where I can order the tool?

Been waiting forever on an auction item, but my 24mm x1.0 RH thread puller arrived yesterday. It fits my '85 Spree flywheel, my '87 Spree flywheel and the flywheels on an '87 and '98 CH80 Elite.
