Re: 86 Honda Spree
Most likely the answer is yes. Cold start problems is usually the bystarter{aka} the electric choke.

Re: scoot will hardly move
Only way to find out is to take the belt cover off and see what it looks like in there. Yes it could be a worn belt or clutch. Does your rear wheel turn good when its up on the stand? Make sure your rear brake is not set too tight.

Re: 85 Spree - no start
Check your vacuum valve first to see if it is stuck closed. Verify you are getting gas to the carb.

Re: Electrical issues....
Sounds like your friend placed a curse on your spree! Actually I would check your bulbs first to see if they are blown out and then check your wiring for any shorts. Look for loose contacts, rusty contacts, exposed wiring in the sheathing, etc.

Re: Kick stand kill switch
Never heard of a safety switch on the kickstand for a Spree. No such thing! The only safety feature is that you have to hold the brake lever in for it to start. If you have something like that in the kickstand it was wired in somehow from the previous owner.

Re: Spree nq50 1985 only turns once!
I change the gear oil every year. It only takes a few minutes and is just part of my routine maintenance. Get yourself one of those small squirt type oil cans. It makes the job a piece of cake to do.

Re: Please help me 1 more time!!.........
Have you tried adjusting the air and idle screw settings on the carb? Try this. Warm engine up to operating temperature. Adjust idle screw until a nice even idle is achieved without having your back wheel turn. Now go to your air screw and turn it in until the engine begins to faulter. Now turn that...

Re: 85 spree won't idle down
If your throttle valve is all the way down in there like it should be your cap should screw back on very easily.

Re: What type of oil to use?
Better get better glasses there Bear. I never said only Honda brews the correct oil. I have always stated to NOT use 2 cycle oil made for Chainsaws,Boat motors, Weed Whackers etc. which would be a pre-mix oil. Only use oil stated for Injection type systems. Not just any type 2 cycle oil will do. You...

Your statement seems to tell who is the real arrogant one. When I said knowledgable people I certainly wasn't talking about you.

Re: What type of oil to use?
You have two choices the way I see it. Go with the INJECTOR oil as recommended by me and many other knowledgable people or go with any regular 2 cycle oil recommended by the noobs. Your engine will eventually tell you who was correct. Ahhh decisions decisions.

Re: What type of oil to use?
Only use 2 stroke INJECTOR oil. Do not use oil made to premix with gasoline.

Re: Fuel System oil
If you have a scooter shop nearby, try there. Bel Ray is a good quality injector oil as well. Do not use 2 cycle oil that is made for chainsaws, boat motors, weed whackers, etc. Your local Honda shop would have the correct oil as stated before.

Re: Replacing my belt.
Like i said before it does not hurt to add an inline fuel filter between your vacuum valve and carburetor. You just cut the gas line in between the valve and carb and hook each end to the filter.
It helps prevent dirt particles from entering the carb and plugging it up.
