How rare is the shasta white/lollipop green color scheme?

The place to discuss rides, accessories, or whatever is tangentially Spree/Elite-related

How rare is the shasta white/lollipop green color scheme? Is it that hard to come by and if so how much would you pay for one in running condition?

I haven't researched this, but I'm pretty sure that's a Spree thing and yes, it is rare. I have a printout of years and colors somewhere around here, I'll try to find it and zero in on it.

This is the one I'm referring to. It's definitely a 1986 model. I have read here and there that it may have been a limited production. I would like to gauge how rare it is, whether its worth hunting for one and how much you would expect to pay for it.

Would its rarity command a premium?

I do like the kriti blue though! Very close to "Carolina" blue (UNC).

my guess is that its not worth any more then a regular spree. just cause it says special doesnt mean that much. its basically a 1986 spree with white and green colors.

It all depends on how much you're willing to pay. I generally have my tongue hanging out and pay too much. So now I'd take a loss on everything I have if I tried to sell a scooter.

This is the one place where a guy would really like to have a stock, restricted Iowa model. About ~2400 of them. The rest of the US got ~22k of the un-restricted 1986 NQ50D.

This data comes from service data from Honda, which used to include start/end serial numbers for each year of production, except the last year sold. They just said serial number xxxxxx and up... But into the '90's Honda stopped putting out the last produced serial number for each year. At that point, our production trail ends. This is why there are no figures for the 1987 Spree and others (last model produced) and why the Elite SA50 data ends at '92.

The Spree data underscores what a huge hit it was, no model in the next decade came close.

I have never heard of 87' SA50,SB50 and SB50P

Someone please enlighten me since I thought these models began in 1988, not 1987.

This graph says otherwise.
I'd rather be riding my Aero!

thanks novs86 - I saw that and forgot to correct it before posting, will fix tonight.

Easy to remember by knowing it *replaced* the Spree's place in the model line up.

Greetings:

Interesting observation, Novs. I wonder if the color-coded bar graphs reflect the calendar year when the scooter was sold, as opposed to its Model year. Since the '88 SB50 likely arrived in showrooms in mid-1987, perhaps they sold out before the New Year?

Also, I wonder how often a production run is simply re-badged as the next year's model before it's shipped. I know that Honda is fond of making model-year changes featuring only color changes and Bold New Graphics, but no mechanical changes.
