Fuel/gas mileage/milage thread. Fuel efficiency is hip!

Post by ItchyKneeSon »

I wanted to keep track of the fuel milage on my Dio SP. I'm used to mpg, but own a Japan-spec Dio that counts using the metric system. Well, I thought I'd post my fuel mileage and a photo of my person-mover. :D

At my first fill-up, the odometer read 2,094 km.
When I filled up this morning, it was 2191.2 km.
For the record, a liter of regular gas cost 139Õåå (yen). Not sure what the USD exchange rate is right now...

I put my numbers into this calculator> http://oee.nrcan.gc.ca/transportation/t ... -input.cfm and got the following results:

Distance travelled
97.2 km
60.4 miles

Fuel Amount
3.12 litres
0.82 US gallons

Fuel Economy
3.21 litres per 100 km
73.27 miles per US gallon

Mileage Costs
446.5021 ¢ents per km
718.54 ¢ents per mile

73 mpg in the mountains?!
I'll take it! :coolcruise:
I must admit, though, I cheated for roughly 6 km. I rode to the top of a mountain and left the engine off for the descent. To be fair, I'll say it was about 68 mpg. :2thumbs:

What's your fuel mileage?

70 is about what I get out of my JDM Dio. You're right, it's the pits trying to convert metric miles to calculate MPG.

Never rode the little scoots enough to check the MPG on them. My '86 Elite 150 gives about 45-50mpg, but its also way up-jetted. The Helix i had would do about 60-65mph if i took it easy. Saw 71 on a long trip once. My '91 XT600 gives about 50mpg. The cherokee sucks compared to them.

I just got a true reading with no 3km descents with the engine off.
Also, I noticed that sometime last week, my throttle feels much easier to twist.
I can now easily take off with one finger. Maybe the throttle cable had been gunked up or a little rusty from sitting. I have no idea how long it actually sat for.

Here are the most recent numbers:

Distance travelled
97.8 km
60.77 miles

Fuel Amount
3.3 litres
0.87 US gallons

Fuel Economy
3.37
litres per 100 km
69.7
miles per US gallon

Keep yours comin' guys!
Isn't one of the main perks of owning a scooter fuel economy?
My ballsy '86 2L(swapped) VW could MOVE and got high 20s in the mpg dept.

Sounds like you could use a double-overdrive tranny...Z06 gets 31mpg HWY @80mph cruise.
