NEW chinese dio clone found!

Post by burnt_toast »

So as far as I knew, the Honda Dio platform based offshoots included such scooters as:
honda elite sa/sr50, sym dd50, kymco zx50, arnada and that was all

BUT low and behold, while accidentally searching for pics I came across this:
Daelim Cordi R 50 2006?-2009? (Not sure which years exactly feature what motor, newer years are likely jog engine based)

A closer look at the exhaust side reveals a distinctly dio style air shroud and upswept elite style exhaust:
Image

The scoot comes in weighing in at a respectable 170lbs, 20lbs heavier than a standard 94+ SA50

And (possibly) the most notable feature? Front disk front end:

I'm quite interested if anyone else has had any experiance with these Chinese made clones, and how they compare to our lovable Honda counterparts, thoughts?
projects galore :nerd:

I got to ride one of them. The motor jus didnt seem to "feel" right to me. They wanted my shop to carry them but the wholesale was pretty high, so instead we just buy the dd50s.

Hmm, so these have been selling to strictly to the Hawaiin market? That explains why I haven't seen any used ones on the ol Craigslist.

What was it that didn't feel "right" about them? Kinda curious

Im not really a fan of anything Chinese when it comes to scooters.... (I work on Chinese GY6 scooter day in, day out)
BUT I love  the wheels! Count me in on looking to see how much the compamy will be selling replacements for, because they are identical Honda G-Dash clones! I have wanted a set of them for my Aero for a long time, and a set would motivate me to convert to a front disk brake. :naughty:

Thanks for the post, 'toasty!

...good point, 'Baka, I guess I will have to just find me a set of Kitaco's or Centerlines! :2thumbs:

If I could ever find a set of DJ-1 wheels for a good price though, I would buy them for sure, because I could put them on without converting to front disk. I want to go for the conversion soon, but right now cash is kinda tight.

talk to you soon dude, jon

This link says the engine of the Daelim is like a Dio, but interchange is not 100%
http://www.martinracingdealer.com/Categ ... ter:Daelim

Minor point: Daelim is not Chinese, they are Korean based, could be they outsource to China. A little background checking says these are mature companies, maybe older than Mom and Dad?

Hello,

It is not chinese clone!!!

They were made from south korea. :b2t:

it may vary on any rider wether you feel comfortable riding.

i do prefer dd50. ride stable, big tank 1.5 gallon.

I own one, currently doing a mild build with a 47mm bb and a 19mm dellorto. looking at the service manual, the two things different from the dio are the one piece pulley cover and maybe the 12mm piston pin?
