How much are you looking to spend? For the quality and fairly easy use, GoPro HD is hard to beat.

^lol, If I had bought a $100 camera, I believe it would not have survived that crash. Considering I've put my GoPro through at least 3 crashes of that caliber (so far ), I would have spent $300 on crappy cameras that all end up breaking.
How are you going to use it, make a camera mount? Handheld? Are you going to be walking around parked bikes (filming the lineup at a cruise) or will you ride and film?
There are decent quality cameras out there, and you can get great results, but it will take more work. You can make a camera mount fairly easy, but switching between 2 or 3 mounts can be cumbersome, especially if they aren't the easiest to use. Handheld can look great, but takes more effort to use (holding it steady is an art), and riding with 1 hand sucks. And as far as rain/dropping your camera... You most likely just bought a new cam
Either way, to get the "good" results most people are looking for it takes time, effort, and knowledge (Just like everything else). A GoPro doesn't guarantee good results, it just makes a few steps of the process easier.
