True bikers do NOT have stereos on board ever. It would be like having a pink leather jack or pink hair. Image

I dunno. I see a surprizing number of HD riders with stereos installed in their fairings. And then there's the Goldwing riders... some of those guys put more miles on their bikes than I do in my car.

A cook at my work drives a Goldwing. He says he picked it over a brandnew electro-glide harley.
and who is to define a "true Biker"?? :jack: :surprise:

You either enjoy riding for the sake of riding or you are a wannabe with a stereo.

i see where bear is coming from...the 70's(in a good way)
we all watched Easy Rider and thought, wouldn't it be great to just get up and go...and be free.
i think a big part of the appeal to motorcycling is the fact that its just you and the hum of your bike. a lot of free time with your thoughts.
however, here in the age of droid x, iphone's, etc.... everything is a freakin' stereo... there's no way around it. things change.

Not if you are smart enough to realize you don't need a droid, iphone, etc. Oh and there is a way around it, just don't do it. It's call free will, don't be an ant in the hill or a worker bee in the hive. * I sometimes just turn off my cell because I don't want to be bothered, by anyone. Grow some balls, you do NOT have to do just because everyone else is. If everyone was jumping off a cliff would you do it?

actually, i dont have an iphone, or any kind of smart phone...i have the special ed phone...
that wasnt my point though.
my point was, w/ technology being everywhere, and everything becoming smaller and more efficient, i can see why more riders might want a stereo. They are obviously missing out on the true spirit of cycling though.
i leave this thread w/ one final thought.
You can always turn the stereo off...but if you dont have one, you cant turn it on.

I have a severe hear deficit, so stereo has been a waste of time since the late 60s. I have one in my trucks and car and rarely listen to them.

Also the biggest trouble with these stereo is that the morons think everyone wants to listen to their noise. Get some frickin' headphones and spare the rest of us. :jack:

i agree. i hate when these guys roll up in their low riders and it sounds like the circus rolling into town.
boom-boo-boom-boo ba ba ba bah boom boo.
from what i heard, it is illegal to drive with headphones on...i think if u just had one side on you'd be alright(since most ppl have bluetooth plugged into their skulls anyway.)

Interesting, however my 2 way radio communications system (driver to passenger or to another bike) uses headphone inside the helmet.

exactly, your tellin me that when someone sees your scoot with a system on it theyre not gunna go "wow that dudes got it goin on" reguardless of the decibles and hearable while riding. when im parked smokin a cig and need some jams.. there it is..
if i waNT faint backround noise to my 50 mile commute to work then its right there.
i guess if i wanted to be sceptacle like bear i would say "these kids and theyre gPS for speedo's."

On the street the GPS is for accurate MPH measurements. In the woods, on quad trails and such, it is a life saver.

I don't see how having a sound system on your little scoot is stupid...

I like the idea of being able to cruise and listen to something without having my ears obstructed so I can pay attention.
