well i cleaned the carb today, the inlet on the bowl that leads to the bystarter was completely stopped up so I figured that would fix her. No such luck same thing no start sooo I took the head and cylinder off and this is what I found, it looks bad and I think I need a new piston and cylinder. Any suggestions on a piston and cylinder I can run with stock pipe and stock carb then upgrade carb and pipe as I get the money?

well it looks like some one ran it out of oil ??? that jacksas..
you said that your compression was 100 that should be good enuff to run ..the rings don't look like they have inn nick in them..the cylinder cant tell if its deep scratches or some left over piston on it ( did read something on here about getting aluminum out of the cylinder )???but here what i think if it was run out of oil you may have more damage then you can see right now like rod and wrist pin baring damage??? so if you get a new piston and stuff and the crank is bad it wont last long and you will just scrap out of those parts....

the connecting rod and crank appears to be fine, maybe the pin and bearing for the piston arent in great shape but new ones come with a bore kit. I am going to look into getting a big bore kit, maybe 65cc that way i dont have to change carbs or exhaust right away. I could have bought a new one for what I have put into this hahahha at least I have my faithful stock Spree to scoot around on while Double Vision is * me without any lube :P

The correct answer is NO! The piston and rings are junk. The cylinder needs to have the aluminum removed (NO, not with sanding, with acid) the the cylinder need to be checked for for deep grooves. To check if you can catch you finger nail in any of the grooves, you have to bore and hone he cylinder.

That is a decent kit for the price :2thumbs:

That kit with 8.4 gears v8 pipe and a 28mm carb got me to a top speed of 60mph. :surprise:

Since it will be a week or so before I can do anything else with my swapped Spree I figured I would put all the fresh painted plastics with decals and my trunk on my stock Spree and sport that while I am scooting around. May ride it to the TN river tomorrow for the fireworks show :D I still need to paint the front wheel cowl and the speedo cover but I can do that some other time, gonna see if some steel wool will take the top patina off the wheel cowl maybe I won't have to repaint if it makes it glossy and bright again.

The sticker on the trunk says it all. He would do himself. Probably because that is the only way he gets done. Image
