Is a Honda Elite 80 similar to work on compared with Spree

The place to discuss rides, accessories, or whatever is tangentially Spree/Elite-related

Is a Honda Elite 80 similar to work on compared with Spree

Post by japennell »

I just sold my Spree and am looking at a 94 Elite 80. According to seller it needs work. I dont know what kind of work as he bought it as a parts bike.

I have some experience with working on my Spree and I was wondering if the 94 Elite 80 would be similar experience.

The only thing I figured I could easily test before buying it was the compression. Any other suggestions?

Two totally different bikes. The Elite 80 is a 4 stroke like in cars. It is bigger, heavier, no oil injection but has oil in the crankcase. Electrics wise they are pretty much the same but nothing interchanges except maybe light bulbs. Oh and the carb is a CVK style carb that has a throttle valve like regular carbs but also has a slide that is vacuum operated.
