To each there own... Not a fan boy...
I'm no a Honda fan boy either I own a Suzuki gxsr and a Ridley ....
I always went against "mainstream"
People here china... Me Honda
People in Hawaii build ricers I build trucks...
I would choose the bike with less work to do
2005 could be zipped tied and have to buy plastics...Yeah the 87 might be harder to find but there are still more variables.. And a good debate.
He needs to overall look at the situation...
But I agree the prices will be esker to find and the ride will be better on kymco

What does he want... In the end... Now etc...
What is trying to achieve...
The rest is just cosmetics...
At the end of the day when you spent your money are you happy with what u got is all that matters.
The price is a little high ... Lemme help you out
My 87 mint cond with 180 ori miles I paid 500
In Hawaii would been 1k-1500..
Remember ... Something is only worth what the other person is willin to pay.....

There are wayyyyy more (newer ) kymcos in the shops for repairs.. Honda elite 50's ad 80's everywhere out lasting the kymco.. By a long shot.. Honda is quality.. Old or not

Except kymco made the honda scooters in the 80's till the late 90's.

I'd get that SE50 Elite over the Kymco in a heartbeat.

I decided to go for the ZX50. It turns out it has 2650 KM, not miles....

He also has new plastics for the front, console and the bottom even though they are not needed.

He said all he did was put gas and oil in it for two years. It ran nice, but Im thinking it will definitely need plug.

Does the exhaust pipe make a big performance difference? I was able to get to 40 with no trouble. A far cry from my Spree....

The original owner added the technigas pipe. Should there also be other mods that ought to have been done if that pipe was installed? Another words, does swapping to this new exhaust require other mods be done too so the scoot will run best or is this mod ok to do by itself? I want to make sure that I wont be damaging anything by running with just this single mod.

(I am assuming that is all that was done.)

I got it to about 44mph (non gps) without wide open. PO says 47 mph.

Umm, no, I didn't test the Elite. This one was 2 hours away SW of me and the Elite was about and hour+ north of that. Too much traveling....

So, I opted for the larger of the two.

I ended up giving him the $1000 he was asking. I figured the mileage was actually about 1600 miles, not 2650. And he met me half way, saving me two hours....

He also had some new replacement plastics he threw in as well.

Ah, gotcha... kinda hard to negotiate when the seller drives to you ...

I would take the scoot to the nearest Kymco dealer and ask them what ya got in the way of mods, gps your MPH, report your findings to the ZX "modders" on the Kymco forums and go from there...
but that's just me...

You might want to find the service manual and do the simpler maintenance since the last owner did nada ...

GL and congrats ...
