Are those eBay carbs any good?

Post by farmermac »

Has anyone tried those $35 carbs on eBay?

I'm looking at one for my nb50

Seems to be carried by many sellers. They looks like they come with a bystarter.

Would like any input. Ok / junk?

It depends but most of the claimed replacements are not the same as the original carbs.

I agree with Bear - Given the model coverage claimed for the eBay carbs, it is clear they are not tuned to optimal, as OEM carbs differ in main jet size and throttle needles over the claimed models.

Mileage will vary - I tried one a few years back. Recommend fixing your OEM or finding a used carb from exact same scooter model to rebuild. There are some pics of mine in the below link

Thanks guys. I'll look into a carb rebuild kit. Hopefully they can still be found.

These carbs are o-ringed and in most cases a rebuild kit is not required. I have one for my Aero 80 and have rebuilt 3 carbs (one for the scooter and 2 that I sold) and never used a part from the kit.

I picked one of those up... They are inferior. Stock Japanese carbs can almost always be made servicable again with no new parts.

Heads up guys
I just picked up a true Keihin Pwk 28mm flat slide on ebay for 75 (50 +25 shipping.) If you guys don't mind waiting 3 weeks for it to ship from god knows where I can attest to the authenticity of it. Just looked and its still on there (seller had multiple units) bazsogaborus is the seller (not me by the way.) Been running the carb no issues for a bit now

That's just for the jets, Bear, not the carb.

Here is the listing I was referring to previously in this thread

Yes - probably looks like the world's sketchiest listing but I have no complaints
