I have probably got the stupidest id. ea in forum history

Post by Beansdaddy09 »

hey guys, im not drunk or missing a chromosome but i wanted to know if it is possible with mods to have a 87 honda elite 50cc that i am very soon going to be putting on a new sloped plate and a un restricted exhaust and a new belt so it may have some power, but what i really wanted to know is if my scooter with those mods would be able to pull a small small small trailer, the smallest i can legally drive that would hold just a push mower and a couple weed trimmers and a chainsaw and of course fuel for those items and a cooler so i figure 220 lbs at the most and i weigh an additional 220. so any ideas on types of carts or trailers??? just something i can ride down the road to a couple peoples houses to mow their yards and do yardwork when im not working. maybe if you have an idea and maybe a pic to show the example, id be greatful

I've pulled a toddler trailer designed for use with bicycles. It trailed great and is light weight. You could cut off the nylon kid cage and make a flat bed (check weight ratings).

I tossed around the idea of scooter trailer for a couple months ....
After I started looking at what was already available manufactured,
the whole idea of home-brewing something as good got silly.
You can buy much better than you can build, is my point.
If this is more of a budget project, watch for the bicycle trailers at yard sales.
They will not hold the poundage you stated: 225 lbs...not quite
Truthfully, pulling THAT much dead weight and a trailer with a scooter
will ONLY be safe at very slow speed.... :hi:

I would think a side car would be a better way to go.

In my state it is illegal to tow anything with a scooter that is not licensed and insured. You have to have your trailer registered and insured as well. Just food for thought before you invest Id call the locals.

I like the sidecar idea best, old motorcycle races used them also. Those were some funny looking races.

Sidecar idea has my vote as far as stability and strength. You'll have to look at motorcycle quality trailers instead of bicycle trailers if you're looking at 200 lbs rating. I'd do a search for these and then take a look at how you can build a similar item if you're into a budget build.http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/trailer/th101b.htm

Ever driven a side hack? Squirliest thing you`ll ever ride. Had one on a `86 FLT. It`s like you take a perfectly good bike and tie a barn door on one side. Left hand turns are cool. Right hand turns will make you learn the meaning of "pucker factor".
They ARE fun, in a sick, sadistic sort of way.
We can learn much from wise words, and less from wise guys.
