New Guy With A Gyro
Hello all, I heard this was the place to be if you're a Gyro owner, so I decided to sign up. I recently picked up this mint '84 with only 562 miles on it:
Something I'd really like to do would be to put on some wider rear wheels. I've seen pics of Gyros in Japan with what looked like ATV or golf cart wheels. Does anybody know of any adapter kits made for this?

Very nice Gyro. Someone needs to reproduce that back bumper.

They'd probably make a good bit of cash. Almost all the Gyros I've seen have been missing that piece for some reason.zuphilius wrote:Very nice Gyro. Someone needs to reproduce that back bumper.

Welcome NJChan:...the wheels on '84 are different than '85-'86,
and I'm not sure what you will need to adapt other wheels.
We have worked out a method for doing this to the TG50's,
but not the NN50 yet, so when you do, be sure to keep us up to date.
That is one Ultimate find for gyro, friend...

IRC TG50 hubs fit the NN50. So rim/tire combos from there can be used. I can fit one up for pics...the wheels on '84 are different than '85-'86,

That nice nn50 rear cover and bumper would need to go for tire fit

That'd be awesome if you could fit one up. That'd save me a lot of time and trouble if all I had to do was swap the hubs.mousewheels wrote:IRC TG50 hubs fit the NN50. So rim/tire combos from there can be used. I can fit one up for pics...the wheels on '84 are different than '85-'86,

Yes - TG50 hub and wheel fits up fine on an NN50. It's a bit taller even with OEM tires. Fender must go.. subliminal message 'must sell fender and bumper to mousewheels'
Check out our small 'wiki page for Gyros for a pic and link to larger rim/tire options link to larger rim/tire option

Wow-
That would be my favorite Gyro model... Right down to the Neptune Blue color. You did VERY well on that purchase, Bruce. Finding a Gyro in that shape is really rare these days!
"Resident" forum member "motormike" is our Gyro authority, racer, and expert around here!
Mousewheels is our "everything" expert! Awesome picture-explanation as always, mousewheels!
I had a Red NN50 in high school i bought for $400.
"Red" got treated to a week-long "quickie" full disassembly clean-up, a new muffler (only cost around $85 in 1996), new tires, and some fresh paint. I loved Red, and once while riding, one of the large 2nd gear clutch shoes flew apart. Luckily I had a "parts" Gyro S, and after pulling the needed clutch shoe out of the S, I figured out that it fit the NN50 perfectly. Red was back on the road again!
Yet another Honda scooter I NEVER should have let go of
