Got my 1st moped.

Post by bkaab »

Well a co-worker asked me if I knew how to work on a moped since Ive worked on her car a few times. Instead I asked if I could buy it broke instead. Picked it up today for 125$. Its a 1986 Honda Spree with 5700mi. They had let some random guy they knew down the block try to get it running and he has had it for 2 months had the owner spend 120$ in parts. But I guess he didn't know what he was doing. I worked on it all day today and at the end of the day I finally got it running. Im 6" and 270lbs. It will be a fun toy.lol Look for a build thread coming soon. I'll be repainting it and just make it look like new again.

Best first moped you could possibly get. She's not fast but she's one good looking 2 stroke !!

Good score, and $120 in parts... :thumbwink:
Given your size/weight, definitely not going to peel your eyelids back.
I'm 200# and know how a perfectly fine running Spree pulls me :|
The Aero 50 is variated and differs greatly from Spree performance...
I'm not a fan of painting these Honds side panels, and i can't see any real need to paint your's.
clean and shine and ride...done...no ugly surprise later (or wasted money /labor) when paint job gets scratched, etc.
Just me, some people paint them and they look great.
Enjoy, and keep it started regularly for reduced maintenance problems.
Up there in MI. you'll probably winterize it before long.
Down here, we ride......... :coolcruise: .....all year... :hi:
Oh yeah, you've got some good guys in Michigan that will steer you right if you need some local help....rock-on... :urban:
