Is this a spree?

Post by jackytwoshoes »

Still on the hunt for something!

Is this a single speed or CVT drive? As I'll be using it for commuting I'm after something with CVT for the extra zoom factor. This look nice though...

It has an unusual kick-start. The rider's foot is in front of the pivot, and the pivot is very far to the rear.

It does not look like a Spree, or the Spree like power train of the US Elite E (SB50).

Powertrain looks like the 1st gen Aero 50. It is variated, but the ratio range is limited compared to the 2nd gen. Also it runs a different bore/stroke thus 2nd gen bore kits do not fit. There is about nil performance parts for 1st gen Aeros and parts may be difficult to find - at least in the US.

The pic in your link of the rear storage bin and front basket with tray caught my attention. Those are nice!

Here's detail from the pic in your link vs member martynkim's 1983 Aero 50.

it does look nice :) and comes with basket and trunk :) :)
buy it buy it buy it ;) No pressure here! :ndance: lol

On a serious note:
A stock first gen Aero 50 would go 37~40mph (59.5~64kph); if that would satisfy your 'extra zoom' factor then you should be a happy camper with this choice. :)
