Fan shrouds with corsa

Post by Ryan_ott »

I'm putting my elite together and I've seen some pics of motors with only the large cover on. Do you guys only use the one cover, both or enlarge the hole using both cooling shrouds? I'm running a corsa bore if it matters.
I sold it all...

Better to use both imo. It funnels the flow of air around the cylinder/head and out the small window on the side for a reason.(back pressure?) I think honda's design is proven. I run both shrouds on my bbk's as is. No failures......

So no need to enlarge it, I thought it may need more flow?

You will need to enlarge the spark plug hole

I figured that out after I went to remove the plug after the shrouds were on.

I have seen many others here cut that out carefully and add some type of heat-proof material to the lower area so that the seal will still be as good as possible with the spark plug boot installed. Then again, I have seen pics where that was not done and did not use the "boot" to try and seal it up-leaving a gaping hole around the spark plug cap where essential cooling air can escape it's duty prematurely.
I sealed mine up as much as possible retaining the original type of seal when the spark plug cap/boot is installed. Hope this helps you.....

I'm using a cap with a wide flange from a minarelli based scoot. After some trimming it seals perfect.
