What's a stock Spree top speed shoud be?

Hi everybody,

I just got a stock 87 spree for free and i want to know what the top speed is suppose to be on that kind of bike. The bike as 3000 miles and past the last 3 years in a shed. I cleaned the carb and I'm just doing 25 mph. I know it's suppose to be more but how more? I'll try to clean the muffler and check compression next weekend...

30 MPH is the rule of thumb, unless it is an Iowa model, in which case it is 25 MPH.

Stock? probably 25. Derestricted, IDK but myspree says 85 motors are * rockets.

30-35mph top speed for a healthy spree, depending on rider weight too. I maxed mine at 38mph back in the day..

! weighin at 220 and my 1984 going downhill will hit 41...

Aero 50? No way, really? My Aero 50 from 84 is a beast. I need to fix the speedo cable to be sure, but I had a car follow me and they said I was easily doing over 30. That was only a small jaunt. I'd be really disappointed if my Aero is only pulling 25

Guess I should have included the word extremly before the word downhill. Anyway my scooter is a 1984 49cc Honda Spree. Not sure how close it is to a Aero though...

On a hill like that, it would probably go faster if you cut the motor off right before it hit the top speed such that the clutch would disengage and the motor wouldn't be holding you back.

yeah but you gotta love the way the spree engine just shrills as your topping it out at its peak.

neighborhood hills that used to be a blast on the spree just aren't the same on faster scooters were you're mostly coasting..

Ya, it really is a surprise if you have never ridden one before, 0-13 is what one would expect from a 50cc stuck in 2nd gear, then the motor just starts spooling up like nothing else.
