Blood In The Cracks

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

Awaiting bearings and seals and Mighty Malossi to assemble Flash II. The oddball transitional 1987 JDM cover needed cosmetic attention, and my legendary (Bad...) painting skills were put to work:

It's not a vented chrome aftermarket job, but I like it.

It looks good Wheelman, standing from a distance of 3 or meore feet :P

If you wanna remove those brush strokes, get some 1000 grit and wet sand. Then buff it out.

Try the high temp paint in the spraycan for a more even application next time.

nice. did something very similar with my "vento" stamped cvt cover but just used a red colored permanent marker and wiped off excess with brake cleaner soaked rag, also looked good from a FEW ft aways

Squirrels

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

Dude, I tried but the squirrels wouldn't keep their tails still! The trouble with black spray paint is that the Apartment Landlord frowns on fumes. Most of those "brush strokes" are deep scratches in the Alu.

looks very good wheelman!

i did a similar thing to my SB, i actually got a hold of a sandblaster and took all the old paint off, then taped off around the letters and painted them white. after the paint had cured i filled the letters in w/ hot glue and let that dry for a day and sanded it back down till all the white was gone. then i painted it all black, waited a couple days for the paint to cure and popped the hot glue out and this was the results

couple feet away

the same process should work w/o the sand blaster if you were to scuff the factory paint

I'm Definitely an "Autumn"

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

I tried Ms. Wheelperson's choice of nail polish - autumn orchard - to match Flash's rakish red, but it doesn't cover very well. It's Manly GMC Truck touch-up paint,

I did the same thing on mine. I think I might do it on all the scoots I restore.

Clean Spree

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

GI, that is one clean Spree!

The pesky gray nylon-ish material around the taillamps and flashers can be renewed with an automotive trim dressing from your Autoparts store.

I've used "Back to Black" by (??) Mother's with good results.

BTW that slightly sun-kissed leg in your avatar is driving me crazy. Makes me want to rub Aloe Vera on it starting at the ankle...

Yes it is. It's amazing how subtle color touches can make the entire scoot shine.

Kudos to both you guys for the H O N D A san logo enhancements. As Willy Shakespeare said:

Me Likey!! :D
