Re: getting a new title
I don't know about WI, but here in Washington you take your Bill of Sale to the DOL. If the sellers name matches they issue you a title. If not they will register it in your name. In 3 years, if no one reports it stolen or steps up and claims it, they issue you a title. Done it 3 different times and I have title to all 3 vehicles now including my Spree. Can't hurt to call them an ask.

Re: getting a new title
Well you just wasted you're money and but a "pit bike". No title in WI means no registration, ever. BOS doesn't mean squat to our DMV.huck731 wrote:i bought my elite e bacnk in early 08, and still havent legaly registered it because i dont have a title or anything, the only proof of ownership i have is a bill of sale between the guy i bought it from and myself, he didnt even have the title. anybody have any answers?

Re: getting a new title
There has to be a way to get a lost title. I would call and ask before I would give up.

Re: getting a new title
Possibly find the original owner for a lost title claim, but I doubt the DMV keeps records for more than a couple years.Bear45-70 wrote:There has to be a way to get a lost title. I would call and ask before I would give up.
Taken from WI DOT website:
"You must register your moped and you must obtain a certificate of title. If you buy from a dealer this will be taken care of as part of the purchase transaction. But if you buy from a private party, make sure you obtain a title from the seller that has been signed by all owners and from which all loans have been cleared by the lending agency."
Pretty much the best/only option.bigluelok wrote:if anything part it out or strip it and transfer to a legit frame

That says the best way, not the only way. There has to be a system to get a title if it is destroyed or lost. Here there is a 3 year waiting period before they will issue it to you but you can get one.
