Engine code "AF16" - located above the oil check / drain bolt on the final drive trans cover.

I'd look for the code as a select few AF05's came with a 2piece cover as well

And if you're lucky, you might find one with Engine code "AF18". In that case you've got a REAL Dio.

The razz is okay. Remember, Yamaha is king of 2 strokes. The Puch would be a real conversation piece, especially an old one. Might be fun to rebuild.

be careful on the 180 Yam... i work on them quite a bit at the shop i work at, and new stock parts are getting far and few for them. (used parts should be on the 'Bay) If you are looking for something to modify and make faster... wait and get a Honda Elite (aka a DIO), a 1985-87 Honda Aero, or a Yamaha Jog. -The early '88- Jogs are freaking FAST stock... and can be bought cheap.

As an XC180 owner, I will second Jon on this: parts can be rare/expensive. BikeBandit is good for some stuff, but eBay and the RivaRiders Yahoo! group are better sources for the rarer stuff. Drive belts last about 12K and cost about $180 to replace. Variator rollers are unique to the XC180/XC200 and cost almost $40 EACH (you need eight). One guy on RivaRiders is working up an aftermarket source for those. The cylinder head gasket has recently become unobtanium too. Carburetors are a pain in the * to remove/install/clean properly.

Bad stuff aside, I frickin' love my XC180. It rides extremely well for a scooter and soaks up the bumps better than most 10"-tired bikes. These machines will go all day with ease (as long as you fill it up every 75 miles or so, tiny gas tank). I know people that have driven them cross-country with little trouble. If you do go for the 180, let me know...I'll help as much as I can with getting it going again.
