Lol, every time I crash it's not a question of me or the bike surviving, I'm more concerned if I caught it on tape :P
You know how it goes, you can plan a big ride and everyone ends up not making it, or you can be cruising solo and 5 guys pop up randomly ;) I'll be sure give you a call when this weather clears up, or if you hear us blasting by just run out and yell :P

Some flooding downtown today, I rode my moped down to grab some last minute christmas things and got caught in some pretty heavy rain :( Decided to watch everyone else brave the waters for a while :P

Not really, everyone has a fast bike but when the time comes, all I hear is excuses. And we don't have any real highways over here, you have to slow down for traffic once you pass 60.

 Exactly, my front brakes are rubbish and I still rush :P When we switch bikes and I ride on my friend's disk front it feels so much safer. I'll be passing around the cam soon, just waiting on my friend to find his GPS so we can actually have a real speedo too.

Greetings:

You make the snow-bound mainlanders drool, Oh-Eight! :)

I noticed the first vid had everyone wearing skid-lids. The second features lots of helmetless riders. What's the law in Hawai'i?

Tejas lets you slide if you're over 18 and prove you can afford the medical care. You can still be pulled over for not wearing a helmet. However if you are pulled over and have a health insurance card, you don't get a ticket. They now have a little sticker for the license plate that you can get for about $10 and proof of health insurance. The sticker prevents you from being stopped by the Gendarmes for no helmet.

I got the sticker but still wear my lid 99% of the time.

Not required for riders over 18. I feel wierd without my helmet on, so I always wear it. I'm working on trying to convince my friends to do the same.

What's a skid lid? I'm picturing a chopper style half helmet, but most of the helmets I spotted were full face?

Greetings:

I use the term "skid lid" generically for any helmet.

Full-face will surely protect better, but any helmet is better than none.
I have a Shoei Santa Cruz for town riding. Usually modular full-face for longer trips. (Keeps the wind off my delicate complexion...) :)

ya not many people wear helmets here, im one of the few from my group of friends... they call me officer safety and kikaida(look it up). but i hate it when bugs/rain hits you in the face at any speed. one of my friends was wearing snowboarding goggles and a beanie. haha idk where he got the goggles in hawaii...

Greetings:

Pretty funny, calling you KIKAIDA just for wearing a helmet. Scroll down to see Hakaida astride a vintage Kawasaki Triple. I like him better! You need new friends!
