If you want digital speedometer, you might consider a bicycle speedometer. My Sigma was less than 20 dollars. It records speed, mileage, top speed, average speed and time. I have a Trailtech vapor on my motorcycle and it has more features like tachometer and CH temp but was almost a hundred dollars.

Mine is mounted to the side but it can be shuffled anywhere you want it.

I was going to cut and paste your post but you beat me to it. If you just want a digital speedo, this is the cheapest and easiest way. Wal-Mart sells one of those bike speedos for $10.00. :2thumbs:
