My 1985 Spree showed 30 mph speedometer/27.9 GPS

I changed the rear tire to a 2.75X10 tire and got 30 mph speedometer/28.4 GPS.

That is on the flat at sea level.

Oh and I have owned this scooter since 1985 and it had less than 300 miles on the clock when I got it. The PO only rode the scooter, never did a thing to the scooter.

Ok... well that has nothing to do with the question I asked. What about a modified Honda Sprees top speed. What is the top speed someone can get out of a modified Spree?

Pulley mod
Exhaust ported
Intake ported
Up jet
Air box removal
Exhaust upgrade
Gears
Anything and everything you could think of and you tell me it is impossible to hit anywhere near 40mph

Interesting that this is NOW a modified Spree, when the original claim was a pure stocker. Somebody needs to get their story straight.

Stock top speed=32-35mph

Pulley modded spree top speed=42mph (a spree with this top speed will take off very slow)

Air box removal and upjetting, will not improve the speed of a 49cc spree

Most sprees will not even run without the airbox.

If yours did 40 without it, it would be the first time in spree history.

Not always true Tjamz I have had several honda sprees that would run like a raped ape with no air box. And yes I have had one up to 38(flat ground) with no air box and GPS verified. Most will run with out the air box you just have to turn in the air/fuel ratio screw in all the way. I do not suggest doing this but when you buy a spree for $20 and can ride it like that for a summer it is well worth the risk.[/quote]

This is pure BS. The fuel/air screw only effects idle to at most 1/4 throttle. It's effect at WOT is at best 1 to 2% of the fuel being used. What is this a Liar's Moon? Fantasies will not work here.

I never claimed that it was a stock Honda Spree and you said it was pure bs that I could hit 38mph on a spree.

Thanks Tjamz for saying that a spree can hit over 40 and yes I know that not all of the mods are for top speed some are for acceleration. I was just trying to make a point that I could easily make my Honda Spree hit 38.

My fat *, can not stand to ride a 40 mph spree because it takes off sooooo slooow.

Hey now, I still think I can get a bit more out of it...

 Mine's the fastest 49cc nq50! :woot: And I still think there's a tad bit more to wring out of it, as soon as I get a new crank

42 was the speed at which going any faster made taking off nearly impossible. I think if I towed up to 20mph, I could go 45+ on my spree with more pully modding, but that really wouldn't count for much in my book. Drafting cars, I'd 45, hills close to 50.
I know that a stock spree WILL NOT go 38. I've never seen any proof of another spree hitting 40+ on a gps on flat ground unassisted (not drafting or anything), though a lot of that has to do with the fact that doing an engine swap it a more practical approach to going 40mph on a spree.

But technically it is no longer a Spree once you modify it. Now it is MODIFIED Spree and you have to so state. Image
