Fill gas tank with vinegar, let set a few days. Drain, slosh in gas antifreeze (alcohol), dump, fill with gas. Has address most rust issues I've faced.

So it turns out, benji, that tank had Red Kote in it! Flushed it out and its clean as a whistle. Gonna work great. In the mean time, I got the Metro wheels fitted with fresh tubeless rubber...Fully inflated came to about 3-3/16". Big step up from the 2-1/2" that were on there. Gloss black rattle can job on the wheels came out sah-weet!

Thx, all I need now is this rain to quit so I can break-in the new brake pads. Anyone have a comment on how they seat new pads? Seems its like breaking in a new bore, all depends on who you ask...

pads are EBC btw

off topic ? here...Theres a hole in the plastic under the front of the seat. Can be seen in the pic above. Has 3 markings off/on/res like there should be a 3 position valve there for fuel cutoff or something. Ive seen others' bikes where they ADD a shutoff valve in the fuel line when they run with no petcock but why would Honda put that here with no valve? Every se50 HAS a petcock and NO factory shutoff valve in that spot. Did they put that here "just in case" you wanted to add one? Was it an option when buying new? Did they mass produce this piece of plastic to work on other bikes that HAD the valve? Ive seen a handful of these bikes in person and hundreds other pics of them online and every time its just an empty/unused hole.

Maybe a option or JDM option. Also could be a breather hole or some diagnostic tool hole.

The story behind it was the old dude that bought the Elite new in 1987 rode it for 5-6yrs and had racked up 2,400mi or so then had laid it down. He parked it in his garage where it sat for 20+ years and never rode it since. He gave it to his grandson to try and get it running but couldn't so that's where I come in.

Swapped in a non-rusty gas tank, petcock and fuel line, cleaned gunky carb, replaced a few gaskets, new battery, filter and plug. Poured a bit of 2t oil down the plug hole and rotated the motor by hand. It was stuck a bit and was resistant at first after some massaging it spun freely. Then I gave it a crank to see if she had any life left in her....after 24 years of sitting ITS ALIVE! Smoked like Tommy Chong on April 20th for about 30 seconds and cleared up. I haven't taken a ride yet since the brakes are locked but that's easy.

Its amazing after all these years how it still wants to run...love them Hondas!

15mi ride today was a success. Runs like a dream at 39mph holding wot for like 5 minutes. Strange, this is the second bone stock, unresticted se50 Elite "S" Ive had and both of them had #82 main jets. I bought a restricted se50p and it had an #82 as well. I thought only the Iowa had the #82?...either way, now they have #90, #87 and #85 since that's what I had laying around. They each run fine with different jets and the differences are very subtle. Id like to go #87 on all of them since that one seems to be the most happy but the only jets I have left are #96 & #100.

Heres a mind boggler, I have a parts motor sitting here(variated AF05 with carb, I think its from an Aero, not sure) so I thought Id rob the main jet out of it but when I pulled it...it was BLANK! No markings at all. Its shiny clean all the way around it and NOTHIN! There goes that idea.
