VT cycles lists 2 sizes for R1's, a 26mm which they say is good for 50-72cc and a 28mm good for 72-82cc. So are neither actually good for stock bore?

not to say they're "not good" with stock bore. I'm sure you'll see a benefit over the stock exhaust, but you just wont see the full potential of the pipe without a bigger bore

ex, I have tecnigas RS exhaust on my jog and at 50cc it hammas, kitted with 70cc it HAMMMMAAASSS

Unfortunately right now I have a nearly complete block, missing carb, wheel and pipe. I don't think I'll buy both a stock and performance pipe just to compare, not on a student's budget anyway ;)

But if anyone wants to donate a stock pipe to the cause...

Veedub would know better than anybody else that has replied in this thread.

His word is good enough for me. I have talked to him in chatrooms and on here and what not, he knows his chit.

But since he did not come right out and say he has ran this pipe on a stock bore, why dont we ask him?

Veedub,

How do you know the R1 will not work well on a factory bore? Do you have first hand experience with this pipe on a factory bore?

good it will be nice to hear how it works... you may have to tune your variator to get the most out of it.

it was only 100, and is supposedly easy to do, which is a big plus for me, the uber noob

the guy from VT said it should give me over 5mph on a completely stock bike, and that I probably won't have to rejet, so we'll see

how will I know if I do need to jet up?
