My condolences. J/K

You'll enjoy the warmer climate for sure. If your wife likes malls, she'll be in heaven.

i moved from dallas. its the best place on earth. i miss it.
lots of friendly people, great public transportation, and the cutest mexican girls you'll ever see.
deep ellum is a great place if you're a night life-er.
if you've got kids, make sure you get them into cedar hill school district... duncanville and oakcliff are kind of scary.

fightingplankton,
You have to go a bit further West for best place on earth. At least to Weatherford. I don't care for the big city.

Ditto for the Senoritas. Wudda married one of them girls just for the Mexican food, but my wife finally learned how to cook.

even though you're going to smell not that great, wear a sweater/sweatshirt/cardigan for the first week or 2 that you are there... all the time.
it will help you to adjust to the climate/temp increase.

after 2 weeks, when you finally take off the sweatshirt, you wont even notice the heat.
thanx for the tip!

Don't worry about the sweaters. You are moving at the right time of year. Once summer gets here, you'll be acclimated. Actually, I find Dallas summer not any tougher than Missouri Summer. Humidity is less and that makes a big difference.

I worked in the oilfield between Austin and Houston several years ago, in another life. Yeah, big difference between Houston and Dallas. Same can be said for Corpus.

So I'm now in TX looking for a place to live.

What a drive!

I have never drove to TX before... What an experience!

Up til now I had Ohio being the most boring state to drive through.

That all changed going through Illinois, Missouri and Oklahoma.

Missouri I have to say...Going through St. Louis looked very cool to visit!

Illinois (past Chicago) and Oklahoma...... WOW, words can't express the fun views I saw in those states.

Lots of pretty cows and horses and grass....

It was torture!!!!!!

I'm sure there are nice parts of those states as well. .. Just not along the route I took that's all.

Dallas by the way is very very nice!

If you want scenic and beautiful, you'll have to go through Austin.
