Depends on your state.

Michigan is very very easy.

In Michigan, if it is not reported stolen, and you have $15 .......your good to go for 3 years.

Michigan Sec of State: "What can I do for you today?"

Trafficjamz: I would like to register a moped.

MSOS: "Do you have the old registration papers?"

TJ: "nope"

MSOS: "Do you have a bill of sale?

TJ: "Yes, here you go"Image

MSOS: "Who did you buy this from?

TJ: " I picked it up at a yard sale. I think the guy's name was Bill or Bob or something like that."

MSOS: "OK, Let me check the vin #,to see if it has been reported stolen"

TJ : "Sounds good to me"

 Wait for a while....................

MSOS: "OK sir that will be $15"

TJ: "thank you"

Because Michigan is too d*** cold in the winter and too d*** hot in the summer and has tornados. At least that is my wife's contention. Oh and she was born in Benton Harbor and raised in Battle Creek where her mother still lives.

I am smart enough to not call my wife wrong. Regardless of the facts of the matter. I noticed you said nothing about the "cold."

My friend who moved to Bellingham says it's basically like Northern Michigan but with less snow. Massive Improvement. I've never seen a tornado (though not unheard of), but we do sometimes experience a phenominon of streight-line winds that have nearly the power. No houses down, but roofs get shredded and trees knocked down by the hundreds. That's a northwest Michigan thing I think, from the huge lake next to us. Out thunderstorms are intense!

Currently 19 deg. F, 7 deg. F with windchill. The local ski resort reports 57 inches of snow. Due for 5in more in the next 72hr.

And that's after after a near-complete thaw once this winter so far. I think our next thaw will be in March or April.

Despite the weather, I did follow red spree out to Traffic Jamz today. He ride his elite around the lake to the shop in 19 degree weather. Lunatic. Though the roads were relatively clear, he did wind up blowing a schweet 180!

I moved to Seattle from Portland in 1963 and except for my years in the military have lived in the region ever since. I live on the west side of Puget Sound now and for the last 20+ years and the weather here is overall, mild compared to the midwest and eastern part of the US.
