Looking for a performance clutch - 1986 Spree/NQ50

Hi I'm new to the forum.

I bought a little red spree back in February. I fiddled with it for a while:

*derusted the tank with Evaporust (works really well) see: http://www.mopedarmy.com/wiki/Removing_ ... a_gas_tank

*changed the gunky fuel lines
*cleaned the petcock and in-tank screen.
*tried to clean the carburetor

I couldnt manage to tune it very well. Took it to the local shop - Paul and Chris at Atlanta Motorcycles and Repair - they did a great job: a carb clean, tune up and fresh tank of gas for $80.

It now seems that the clutch is giving up between 0mph and 10mph (0-16kmh). I know i can buy a stock OEM clutch, springs, belt etc online but I havent managed to find high performance parts or even determine whether other parts would fit an '86 Spree. I did a quick search of the forum and couldnt find much.

I would be grateful if someone could direct me to where I can find performance clutches online. Does Dr Pulley or MRP make clutches for the Spree?

So from my further research it seems that there are no aftermarket parts for the Spree.

If anyone knows otherwise let us all know.

Buy new clutch shoes and DIY, "dio" clutch springs(NOT center springs) fit and can be used to adjust engagement RPM. Also be aware that sprees normally can't get out of their own way till around 12 mph, where they hit the powerband and overcome the tall gearing causing them to take off.

Thanks. The clutch was definitely slipping. A new clutch, belt and springs did the trick. It rides smoothly but yes the spree is pretty gutless between 0-10mph especially on inclines.

i used dio springs in my elite e when it was stock, made a huge difference in takeoff. the spree and elite e have basically the same setup...

I thought the Spree has 3 clutch shoes, while the SB50 only has 2?

Yes the spree has 3 tiny shoes, i dont know about the Elite. Do the springs still fit?

Is the whole assembly interchangeable? Which is best?
