My Wife's SA50 Elite SR build... PiCs!!

Post by z50r-ghost »

Here are some pics of my wife's Elite SR SA50. We bought it and as soon as we got it home we fully stripped it down to the frame to clean up all the parts and give it a complete check-over. We are still needing a new red side panel, new side skirts, and a handlebar cover.

This is where we are at so far! Let me know what you all think; we plan to do a 72cc Polini Contessa kit, and all the basic bolt ons.

Later, jon

Greetings:

I enjoyed looking at that sleek black-clad frame. And the scooter's pretty nice too! :)

Nice build. The scooter, I mean...

Guy,

Thanks dude! We took some REALLY good pics- (one pic the SEF pipe was getting a lick, and in the other pics *non-PG* both me and the Aero were getting a ride...) but i felt like maybe i shouldn't post them up.
Awww screw it, you blushed for me.

-Here is the SEF getting some love, and the Aero getting a pose.

By the way, any word on what bore kit you are going to pick for your SA?

 later man, thanks for always giving the kind words and posting up the best posts on the 'board.

Greetings:

 I am stunned that you have any energy at all left for scootage, dawg! She's got a bit of that Amy Winehouse thing goin' on, hopefully without the substance abuse. :)

Thanks for the compliment. I stuck my pencil-neck waay out in my choice of a Nica... er, sorry Bear - Nikasil 49mm bore from DayWOT. Patrick said the Polinis are more "forgiving" but he felt the Hi-Tech Nickel Silicon-plated Aluminum cylinder would last if the jetting were anywhere close. I like the idea of an aluminum cylinder for rapid heat dissipation, but it's uncharted territory for me, and evidently everyone outside the Sandwich Islands. Noob sez they're fast; good enough for me. If it grenades, there's always Contessa.

I got me a passel o'stock jets coming, in sizes up to 105. I plan to drill some of the smaller ones I already have even bigger for break-in, which I plan to do with the good ol' stock carb. I figure an engine can't overheat as easily if it can barely feed itself sucking through a 14mm venturi - as long as the jetting starts off fat. If it runs with a 110, that's where I'll start.

Complementing the 78cc net displacement will be a V8 pipe with the 28mm header size, designed for 50-90ccs. I will watch temps like a hawk and increase jetting even more at the first sign of trouble. Have a box of BPR7s and will get a half-dozen 8s in case, given the daily dose of 90+ here in Deepinnaharta.

BTW you owe me a pic of Magical Mythical MadDog's Moto-Aero. :)

Much, much thanks for all the compliments, dudes... from both me and my lady.

Yep, i'm definitely one of the lucky ones; getting the OK to build scooters in the living room is a plus; got the TV, fridge, Wii, and (usually) a huge, orange shag rug right there. (and not to brag, but i have and insanely supplied motorcycle building garage 10 steps away.)

The best part is my wife has honestly really been into the whole putting together / building her scooter thing; and wants to turn the wrenches herself. -She's a dam good rider, too.

Wheelman, sounds like you have a great setup planned out. i will PM you / post up on your topic to chat about it more in depth.

Again, thanks for all the compliments!! Later,

jon

wiguy05,

Don't be so... uh, umm, hard on yourself, dude.
Here's a conundrum for you to consider: -Fapping is as natural as a 2-stroke burning oil.
-Every guy on this forum smells like a lawnmower when they umm, get off of their Honda scooter.
Does that stop us from riding and obsessing over our 50cc speed-machines?
No sir, we just keep on riding and riding... building faster, more stable 10-inched wheeled 2-strokers.
Ya get home from a long ride, and your lady says "P-U!! you smell like oil."
-i guess it's better than your significant other saying "why do you smell like a taco." Now THAT's a topic....
Wheelman? Any thoughts?

Back on to the real topic,
eliteguy50, the other side panel had some serious road rash from where it hit pavement. -The handlebar cover has some digs and scratches in it, and needs to be replaced. The side skirts were the worst; they are so scraped up they would never be able to be sanded down enough to be up to my perfection standards. -Did you know that the side skirts cost around $90 EACH from Honda? We will buy them if we have to, but we are looking for some that would be a little cheaper. :D

Mr. burnt_toast,
Thanks much for your approval, Yan. We will get her Elite even more cherry soon... i can't wait to add the Polini kit, sometimes she has a little difficulty keeping up w' me!

Talk to you guys later,
jon and wifey 8)

Uhh, whut? What's that??

All functional thought is obliterated by imagining 2-stroke aroma while staring at exhaust pipe-tonguing.
Mmmmm, GN-2... :)
