Honda Spree and Elite 50 Forums

Went to my local parts store today and picked up a 1/2'' x 24'' belt for my spree. It is a solit belt and the one one there now has notches on the underside like a cog. Is this belt ok or should i get a different one?

You need a cogged belt, the solid one will not work.

Gotta have a cogged bolt for the tight turns and low clearance.

Went back to the parts store and tried to get a cogged belt. They did not have that size. so i went to the other parts store, the chick did not know what i was talking about so i went in the back and looked myself, still no belt . Anyone have a place that they order from?

Try local hardware store, the one as old as your town.

He's after a generic belt to modify gear ratio. I love living in an ex industrial area, I can go to a store that sells nothing but belts, it's great.

Got my belt today. Had to go a town over, but found it at a rubber warehouse place going to put it on right.... now.
One question though, what kind of gain might i see?

Because the SAE belt is wider and shorter, which should convert to a gear ratio change, which in turn should result in a higher top speed if the horsepower is present to support it.

because the variator-less drivetrain is limited, and nobody makes gears for the spree. instead, we spreetards have to be creative in the mods department
honda-san did not use a 1/2 inch belt, likely due to the fact that he builds metric things and has no clue what an inch is, nor how to fractionalize it.
every mph you can milk out of a spree feels like an accomplishment, and cuts down on travel time.

Yeah, but I like your answer better. Mine was way to factual. I especially liked the term "variator-less".
