Moving to TX?
So, I have lived in Michigan my whole life and am thinking of leaving for Dallas Texas for a job opportunity.
Michigan economy is very bad!!!!!
What parts of Dallas or communities in close proximity are decent?

I'm not from Dallas but have been in and out of the metro most of my adult life. Most of the burbs around Dallas are pretty nice. Best to look at the tax base, etc. I've had and visited friends and relatives in Garland, Irving, Plano, Mesquite, all pretty good neighborhoods.

Re: Moving to TX?
Greetings:
Ms. Wheelperson's folks live in the Metroplex. My advice is to live as close as possible to your new job. Traffic sucks so bad you run into Friday's rush hour on Monday morning. DART is a joke. Better get that PG Long if you plan to scoot to work, too. Speeds are high, patience is low.

My advice is to live as close as possible to your new job. That is a good idea.
Depend which area. you need to understand they are black ,mexican white or asian
the unemployment job under 5 % is good, there are many job out there.
Should look in criagslist and do homework search.
how much rent to live, job located and good locations.

I just started looking today. Cost of living is less in Dallas area then Detroit metro area which is a plus.veedubh20 wrote:My advice is to live as close as possible to your new job. That is a good idea.

Lots of jobs in IT field which is great!
Looking at homes online now.
The only bad thing about moving to Texas is I can't stand the Dallas Cowboys (NFL), but at least they can win a few games!
I'm not only sick of the economy but this crappy weather in Michigan as well! This was one of the worst summers I can remember!!!!

Even the loop hits 1st gear during rush hour. I've learned to schedule my vacation drive time to get a motel rather than enter Dallas area during rush.Traffic sucks so bad you run into Friday's rush hour on Monday morning.
No way would I commute scoot in Dallas. I want more armor around me. Guy, you're right on, "speed is high, patience is low". And when lanes narrow, it's a matter who has his nose in first, and who knows how to play chicken best.Better get that PG Long if you plan to scoot to work, too. Speeds are high, patience is low.

Re: Moving to TX?
Thanks for the input guys... Its much appreciated!
If the cummute to and from my new job was all I had to worry about that would be great.
I'm more worried about selling my home and moving my family across country.
This is the most excited I've been in a while!!!!!
My feelings toward Michigan are just really sour right now.
I don't like to talk bad about where I live but the automotive industry destroyed this area and I have to leave before I explode!

Without jobs, Michigan is just another frozen tundra.

Thanks to the union and government. They forgot that you can't kill the goose that lays the golden egg. I doubt that it will change until we get the government back to "We the People".novs86 wrote:My feelings toward Michigan are just really sour right now.
