Post by Fishman43 »

I picked up a CL Spree score yesrterday to put back together and sell locally (unless anyone wants to pay shipping :naughty: ). I know didly about Sprees, but the trans cover says AF05E on it. Isn't that the restricted Elite motor?

Not with me right now, but I could snap some later today. The scoot is still in the back of my car... smells a little like gas :surprise:

Thanks Marty. I may be needing some parts from you to get this beast back on the road ready for sale... I'll sort out the petcock cover myself :naughty:

My pressure pot parts from Ebay just showed up yesterday so I hope for some good castings this weekend, I do have 3 days off after all :woot:

Yes the way to tell if your AF05E is variated is by taking a look @ the intake manifold. 4 bolt= variated.

True for the most part. The exception is the 1985 Aero, and perhaps the '83-'84s as well. For sure the '85 has a variator under its 2-Bolt intake.

The very Best way to determine this issue is to remove the belt cover. If you see a variator, then your scooter's variated.

2 bolt manifolds can be variated as well. I have 2 parts engines like this.

No....ALL sprees say afo5e on the trans cover

All non-variator engines kickers go counter clockwise.

That is the easy way to tell. If there is no kicker, it in definaltly non-variated.
