The place to discuss rides, accessories, or whatever is tangentially Spree/Elite-related

what do I have here?

Post by kingearwig »

Can anyone tell me what I have? My buddy who owns the motorcycle shop here in town asked me to find out. He says he doesn't even remember working on it.

To me it looks like my 86 Spree motor.

Could be an Elite SB50, it's got a single tap on the intake. The Spree engines have oil and vacuum taps.

Because Honda designed and built it that way. The Aero 50, the Spree and the Elite SB50 all had forward facing kick starters. Even my Aero 80 has the forward kicker.

It's called a learning curve and it steep at first. Don't worry about it.

Bear is right in exception to the aero 50, the aero is rearwards facing alike all of the variated honda scooter 50 motors.

It is an elite e motor for sure.
And it is missing the gear cover.

The intake on it is a big upgrade for a spree running pre-mix.

Elite E engine, but without a final drive tooth count, can't tell you if it is an sb50 or an sb50p lower end.

The pre-1985 nb50 had a forward kick-start. The post-1985 nb50 had a rearward kick-start. The 1985 nb50 did not offer kick start.
