Football Player on a Moped Hit a Truck Head-On

Post by tw39515 »

On Monday, a University of Iowa offensive lineman named Josh Koeppel was driving through an intersection on his moped, and a truck hit him head-on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOuvW8rMoGo

If you are gonna be a lineman you have to be durable and able to absorb punishment and get back up.

It was nuts, I was just down the street on a service call and you would have thought the Governor had been shot or something by the amount of responders they had.

There is a reason the head coach told all the players to sell their mopeds a couple years back.

I don't think I would have gotten up. Ouch.

An accident like that is something that all of us who ride, whether a Harley, Sportbike or 50 cc scooter face on a daily basis. No predicting it. Nothing can be done to evade it.

My wife responded to a similar scene years ago. I went with her. A motorcycle rider on a Honda 400 hit an s10 pickup square on. It was on a country blacktop and the cyclist was probably doing over 40, truck doing 20. The truck driver decided to turn left in front of the motorcyclist. The front of the truck was pushed in a foot. The motorcycle front was crushed in. The motorcyclist somehow flew over the top of the truck and landed in a soft ditch breaking something in one hand. Never had a helmet on. Never realized how close he came to getting planted permanently.
