Anybody have an experience with one of these, good or bad? If so, what were the effects and is it a good upgrade to consider, or is it even truly an upgrade or just trash?

Waste of money. They claim no rev limiter, but there isn't one in the stock box either.

Basically it won't make difference.

It depends on what country your scooter was produced for. An "upgraded" CDI is really just eye-candy on the USA models. I hear that they actually add performance on JDM dios.

Only real difference i see is the timing is advanced a little, Lowers bottom end response, heats motor alittle more on the top, I have to try it out and see with a gps and tach and track if there is a difference is speed. Never did that yet They are so cheap on ebay, if you want one, buy it. Its always nice to buy new things for your peds!

Good point, Tru72! It's always fun to get something in the mail for your scooter.

Daytona made a high-dollar adjustable-timing CDI called a "Progress R" for the Dio. I never used one, but I would guess it has tuning potential. There are some CDI's on Ebay right now that are "cloned" of the Daytona Progress.

i actually have a adjustable one from taiwan , got it as a gift from one of my distributors there. There a definite difference when you move the dip switches, but i never got a chance to put a adjustable timing light to it and really see whats its doing. lol another thing to add to my list of to do things hehe!

That is the only reason I have one, for the bling factor.

That would work good but the only problem is it is designed to work with a HPI CDI, and Horse Power Ignition (HPI) does not make anything that will work with our scooters.

They work best if you wire them thru the flux capacitor then and only if you have low resistance thru the dylitium crystals. This makes the muffler bearings and blinker fluid work at high restiance. Thus, giving the thrust to propel the rear wheel into sub pre warp drive. This only will occur on the 30th of February.

I got one for the bling, it was cool for the few days it worked, then it was just useless bling when it randomly died.
Reinstalled the stock CDI and haven't had a problem since.

Moot point, you'd need a stroker to hit 88mph to activate the whole setup anyway.
