Re: 1986 spree crank bearings
Is there any play in a side-to-side direction? If so thats a dead ringer for bad bearings.

Not sure, but will check and let you know, is there any allowable side to side play?devenex wrote:Is there any play in a side-to-side direction? If so thats a dead ringer for bad bearings.

Re: 1986 spree crank bearings
It may be the flywheel rubbing the stator.
Does kinda sound like case bearings though

Re: 1986 spree crank bearings
Metal on metal. My guess would be crank shaft bearing for sure but if neither crank shaft end has play (in any direction) then I would check for something wedged behind the stator or behind the belt drive pulley that could be grinding on the case. It does not sound like a connecting rod bearing.
Edit: after a closer look at that video, I can see that the flywheel has too much movement. Bearing is beyond shot.

Also, I just noticed that the TG50 video in the Honda thread is also yours. Small world as a California member posted the link before I even knew it was on youtube.

Re: 1986 spree crank bearings
Thanks for all the advice, I have not removed the flywheel yet as I do not have the correct puller. But will remove it as soon as I can to check for anything rubbing to rule that out. I agree with what you guys are saying in that it is the crank bearings. Thanks for you help.

Re: 1986 spree crank bearings
for sure bad bearings. the right way like u said is the correct puller to pull the halves apart. ive always used a hammer and tap all the way around and slowly separate the the case.
