** 67cc...ITS ALIVE! **Does anyone else own a Honda NS 50?

Post by z50r-ghost »

Well guys, it's 40 degrees here with a windchill that makes it feel like 20's; plus buckets of rain... BUT my NS50 came back to life tonight with it's new bore!

-it happily started up and idled on the 1st kick! The Libra Pro silencer sounds beautiful; just like a GP bike.

My next step is to tackle the wheels; I'm installing new excel bright black rims, RADmfg stainless spokes with RED anodized nipples, and metallic silver powdercoated hubs and brake panels.

Next, the headlight install and wiring... After that, I'm planning on ordering a few GCraft (japan) parts, and will add a CFPOSH digital water temp gauge soon.

Thanks for your supports, guys. -And letting me share my NS50 build on
Hondaspree.net!

Later guys, jon :thumbwink:

Thanks KJ, Sanj, and B3!

As soon as I get off work tomorrow I will shoot a video of idling on the stand, and revving lightly; I got to break it in on the street!

So far though, I can tell this engine will double the output if the stocker.

Stock Japan-spec (restricted) NS50/NSR50: 7.2 bhp @ 10,000 rpm (redline is around 12,100 without upgrade CDI)

PE24mm carb, bore, removed oil pump drive, upgraded CDI, no battery, Posh Coil and exhaust: 13 hp

PORTING the bore: ??hp plus quite a bit more efficiency.

-the kits in japan made by AutoBoy once ported make around 15-17, as I've been told. ( ! )

Much love for your support, dudes!

AutoBoy has some insanely expensive kits for the Dio on WeBike too.

Hey Sanjuro,

You definitely know AutoBoy... Extremely expensive parts; all of the AutoBoy parts seem to be double the price of their competition.

Check out Racing Factory Lips... Their parts and exhausts are awesome as well, but they don't cost as much as AutoBoy.

Dont you wished we lived in Japan, or at least come back from Japan with ALOT of carry-on luggage bags??

What I want is to be paid in yen instead of our devalued dollar.

That's a great idea, Sanjuro! Yes sir... I'm going to ask for Yen instead of dollars at work now... Hmmm..

You know what commercial I freaking hate? That one that says "Nobody pays me in GUM"
(trident layers)

Haha!!

Now THAT is a beautiful setup, Sanjuro... I'm freaking jealous, dude- really jealous. Maybe I can start saving up for a Kitaco headlamp assembly for my NS!

Very nice indeed man, thanks for sharing pics!

Well guys, my NS got the ultimate test this past weekend... The True Grits 50cc Fun Run in Suches, GA. After a 6 hour drive to the middle if nowhere, I got to go on a 75 mile ride thru the Georgia mountains along with 100+ other 50cc machines. This fun run has been going on for over 30 years now, and it was a blast....!

Bikes that came included a handful of modded and stock Zumas, quite a few yamaha YSR's, at least 20 Honda MB5's, 18+ NS50F's, a bunch of Detbi GPR's and Senda Motards, Aprilia RS50's, Honda Nifty-50's, a few GY6 50cc scooters, some Tomos and modded moped guys, and about 15 Honda Ruckus's.

It was funny how the True Grits promoter kept stressing "The event is NOT a race" in the rider's briefing meeting... Yeah right!!! :bowrofl: :bowrofl:

They let us start the ride in groups of 10... And it was balls-out WOT the whole way thru the twistys. It was a great ride; tons of fast twisty sections and some good WOT straights.

I also met a few guys I knew from the PlanetMinis forum. I recognized their bikes from pics I had seen them post; then met them! Freaking cool to meet guys I talk to all the time but never have seen their picture...

Other than the long van ride to get there, it was a really fun weekend!
I will post up some pictures soon!

Here is a link to the True-Grits page if anyone wants to check it out.

Well doods, I figured it was time for an NS50 update... It has stayed pretty cold here in Ky, so before Xmas Angie and I decided to strip the NS down to the bare frame in order to get the frame and swing arm media blasted then powder-coated.

Once I had a bare-frame and swingarm in front of me, I *really* saw how badly the frame and swingarm was in need of a powdercoat job; to the point of thinking:
"dam... Why didn't I do this immediately after buying the NS from Mookie?!"

We decided to go with the Japanese NS50 style color scheme; Honda "cloud silver" frame, and gloss-black swingarm.

Last week the frame and swinger were finished, and at this point all I have left to do is install the engine back into the frame! Powdercoating made the little NS look 200% better, and the sliver (instead of black) frame really accented the engine and swingarm / rear suspension of the bike.

I had taken about 30 minutes of video at the True Grits Fun Run, but in the process of updating my iPhone (that "big" update), as well as attempting to sync my phone, Ang's iPhone and our iPad 2, that dam video got erased, or lost... I'm still looking for it.

I will post up pics soon... Hopefully we will have a sunny day to take some pics soon!!

Later guys, hope all had a great holiday season!

jon and Ang

I filmed the entire True Grits ride this year via a GoPro camera on the top of my helmet riding my black Honda '82 MB5. I plan to edit it down a bit and post it on Youtube soon.
