Re: Does anyone else own a Honda NS 50?

Post by motormike »

I will mention here...I could really appreciate a ''COVER" for NS50F rear compartment.
I will post a listing in the proper column as well.
Any other body panels are also subject to interest and purchase, belly pan, radiator shroud, cafe fairing headlight.

-I will be on the lookout, Mike... That dam rear cowl cover is one HTF piece; I had someone else email me and ask if I had one yesterday...

SuprasNsprees, Ohhhh! Man those are some cool wheels!! I love that style; your Mag will look killer with them!
-I can't wait to check out your disk brake setup...

-My rear disk setup will be complete as soon as one more part arrives: a Takegawa Free Floating rear caliper bracket. This bracket alone (does not include caliper) cost me $285. Ouch... Hopefully your setup is a little less pricey than mine!

What kind of tires are on your new wheels? They look really nice!

Motormike; you didn't know about Yahoo japan Auctions? Dam... I was thinking for sure ya did; or I would have mentioned that long ago...

Here is the problem: Japanese sellers simply will NOT ship out of Japan. :(
You have to go thru someone in Japan, or a shop that will ship to the USA.

I get 99% of my new parts from WeBike in Japan, and if I need an OEM part, new or used, I go thru my buddy in Japan at CF Posh.

Unfortunately, the Yen to Dollar ratio is TERRIBLE right now. 800¥ equals about $10.25 USD.

...Then you have shipping costs. To ship a NS tail cover, you will pay approx $35-$40 via USPS / EMS International mail. -The good part to the whole "insane shipping costs" is when I order my parts, they arrive in 3-4 DAYS... Incredibly fast.

I will PM you tonight with a solution / "secret weapon" on how to get parts from Yahoo Japan.

Actually, I have looked at Webike and maybe this Yahoo site too, but was overwhelmed by the text and money and decided that my standards do not require me to chase parts in Japan for vanity sake. If I could buy a tailpiece cover for reasonable cost, then yeah, but $50 has breeched that limit of reason for me...Truthfully, I did not realize such a vast assortment of NS parts was available on Yahoo Japan. In the future, it may become necessary to go this route for some critical parts, but not for a cover...Imma fab something to fill the hole for True Grits and call it "custom".... :hi:

Just ordered a new tire for the rear of my NS50F from Motorcycle Superstore.
Michelin "Gazelle" 3:00 X 17....to replace the knobby TRIALS tire that the P.O. put on...what was he thinkin' ?
Couldn't see myself carving North Georgia mountain roads on something designed to be used off-road.... :urban:

Awesome Mike! TRIALS tires! Haha! ;)

You will love the Gazelles; they are some great tires

I'll keep an eye out for a good priced, nice rear cover for ya, and the next time I have a big order to place with my buddy in Japan, I will have him put it in the box with my stuff-

Yeah man, I can't wait to ride the Grits again this year! It's actually a really good ride! Plenty of hard "fun" turns, hills, straights and awesome scenery. Good tires are a must! I had to ride carefully last year due to a really cold road and wet patches; not good for slicks...

How many days / hours away is it now?? Shoot... I need to hurry up with my rear brake setup!

Thanx jon, what a nice thing to do, save me a ton of logistics...

Uh, as I count, 38 days, a smattering of hours, countless nervous minutes... :nervous:

I will be checking the brakes on mine while the tire work goes.
Front lever needs replacing...it's mangled like none I've seen before, but works...HA !!!
The rear drag link has probably the wrong bolt(s) in the drum end, didn't look at the fore-end
Wants to "clunk" into place upon every first-application of the brake...stops after the first one until you park it.
Tightened the rear bolt, went away, returned.
I may already have that specialized bolt on hand....
Imma go out and shoot some pix...be back up here in a bit.
Sitting here typing about it has inspired me to get up and do it....rock-on you bird-brain... :urban:

Camera battery flat...your patience is appreciated...please enjoy the complimentary pastries during your wait.... :urban:

38 days, huh. I'm too tired to get motivated to "NS-wrench" tonight.

After working on scooters all day, I installed a factory HD gear-indicator on my Dad's new 2013 Harley Tri-Glide trike... Man, talk about a machine; his Tri-Glide is quite simply, amazing. GPS, insane stereo, leather, blacked out v-twin 103, 6 speed, custom "midnight" black and silver, LED's and HID lighting, screamin eagle cams... I never thought I could get into a trikey, but dam...it's sweet.

Speaking of Japan; I got the word today that my special floating rear caliper support is NLA. :?
So... got to order a similar kit, but more moneys.

Mike, I'm pretty sure I've got that special bolt and front lever you need... Give me a few days to find them and to get them out of storage, and I will send u them.

Bird-Brain is right! We've been soo swamped with bird rescues lately- and any free time we have we're spending time with our birdys...

38 days! -j

Hey guys,

Lots of great info in here! I've had my NS since January. It's all stock, and I was using it to commute to work until a few weeks ago when I did this -

Image

No sweat because I've got a line on some nsr forks/dash, but I was pretty bummed to wreck it. Gotta have it ready to go for suches!

Hey Nick,

Yes sir, welcome dude... We're getting quite a few "NS Heads" here!

One concern; are you getting the complete NSR fork assembly? I ask because the NSR 50 forks are 30mm, and the NS50 forks are 29mm. 1mm does not seem like a lot, but the tubes definitely won't work with the NS triples... I didn't want ya to buy something you can't use.

Beautiful NS!
