Re: Does anyone else own a Honda NS 50?

Hey guys,

I was going thru my stash of parts and found a spare AutoBoy Japan "High Power Plug Kit" I imported that someone may be interested in...

The AutoBoy High Power Plug kit is a billet adapter that allows the use of an NGK ER9EH racing spark plug. The ER9EH is TINY compared to a standard plug. The volume area around the ceramic and electrode is approx 3 times less, which raises compression.

AutoBoy notes "power and torque you can feel by installing High Power Plug kit..."
I was skeptical, but wanted to try it out- it definitely works; the increased compression and better fuel burn can be felt by installing this little part, -I briefly installed it on my friends STOCK NS (3200 miles on odo) to test it out... :)

Price is $60 shipped for the high power plug kit in the USA, and i am including a NEW NGK ER9EH spark plug for a spare. ($18)

I cannot use it on my NS since my RS Lips bore and head install.

Please EMAIL me for pics!

...I forgot to mention; if anyone would be interested in a set of Dunlop KR Radial Slick tires, please shoot me an email. I would let them go pretty cheap...

They fit the stock rims w' tube. Still lots of life left!

(I hope these FS posts are ok here mods, since these are NS parts)

If anyone needs any NS parts, please let me know. I've been getting my cluttered garage straightened up and have found some parts I had forgotten I had!

Anyone know where to purchase intake to carb gaskets for the NS?

I'm not looking to buy the complete gasket set that treats or 77 offers.

Recently the low-speed jet plugged on the NS carb.
Having a nearly new clone which was scavenged from a NS50F that I got for parts,
I decided to do a swap.
The airbox has been void of any filter element for 1,000 miles.
OEM carb has been running good at 2 turns out.
The clone carb would hardly run with the air-mixture screw at 2 turns out.
Final position of the screw is FULL CLOSED.
That is the best running spot, and I'm a little confused.
Even with the air screw 1/4 turn open, it starts to falter.
I bought a new OEM Honda filter, $9, even comes pre-oiled... :thumbwink:
After installing, I was hoping to open the air screw some and have some better adjustment.
Turns out the filter made no difference at all.
Still will only run good with air screw full closed.
My next step is to soak and clean the OEM carb and start over.
I'm starting to think the clone is a p.o.s.

Very good progress lukz93... :thumbwink:
You have much to be proud.
My dim light problem was a bad rectifier/regulator and fixed by switching out to a spare...no cost.
I accidentally started the bike with no r/r in place, and burned out the headlight...
.... very quickly...3 seconds... :bowrofl: :bowrofl: :bowrofl:
Very foolish of me.
AGAIN, I replaced it with a spare...parts bikes paying off.. :2thumbs:
The problem next was clogged jet, and the clone carb that I switched to will not adjust properly with the idle-air mixture screw.
It runs almost as well though, and I have not yet cleaned the OEM carb...must do that.
Laid the bike down once recently...pretty hard low-side that resulted in all damage being superficial...thankfully.
My elbow, on the other hand, was a big loser in the deal....it's healing... :urban:

Hi fellas..

Normally I'm on this board searching for parts and what nots for my two 87 Sprees.. and then recently found this thread.
Just wanted to let y'all know that I recently picked up a NS50 and a super mint MB5 for a friend of mine from a veteran Suches True Grits rider.
Both bikes have been True Grits regulars.
The MB5 was originally owned by Ben Cheatwood and has ridden 31 years of Suches True Grits with it's first ride in 1982.
It's amazing how clean both bikes are and have been taken care of..

anyways.. I love seeing everyones' enthusiasm is so strong for these bikes.

Haha... yeah I love my VW pickup! It's perfect sized for small bikes!

Ok fine.. it'll fit an XS650... barely.

guess who owns sanj's ns50 I do. yep. super nice guy if y'all are ever lucky enough to meet him.

the ns50 is also redicuoulisy clean! too bad its been 40 degrees with sleet rain and ive yet to ride it :(

so anyway. I was wondering if anyone has exhausts or kits to buy? I'd rather buy a quality exhaust before a kit, as seeing the ns came with a 24mm flat slide (which I feel is over carbing. I run 16mm dellortos on 70cc moped kits all day long)
