Battery Installation Tip

Fumbling with the lug and getting the battery bolt started in it can prove to give serious headaches. To avoid this Houdini-like process, I suggest using either a short piece of shrink tubing, or a common drinking straw. When inserted into battery post with the lug, a firm pressure will hold the lug in the desired position. Works well either way you need to use for your application. Whatsmore, no need to remove as there are no conductivity mishaps possible...... :urban:

I usually stick a zip tie under the lug while I tighten it down. I don't leave it in but there always seems to be a piece of a zip tie handy :P

I've used an assortment of stuff that was laying around too. How do you think I found this .....seems to be most reliable.... :urban:

Yeah, and the real cussing starts when that lug falls out and mysteriously clings to the darkest, most inner depths of the scooter.... :urban:

Mike why are you doing this the hard way ?
Come on save yourself some trouble 66SIX will show you the way shrink tube are you kidding ?
Batteries are always a problem .
Here is a dumb tip .
On some batteries the screw will not reach the battery bolt terminal once the connector is on .
Here is what I do too solve the problem .
Take a small piece of foam cut it a little larger than the terminal hole .
stick it and the nut / lug into the terminal hole / The foam will hold the nut in place .
No more messing around trying to catch the threads in the nut or having them fall out if you tilt the battery .
What could be simpler than this ?Mike try shrink tube on one side and the 66SIX foam on the other side see which one works best ...

Darn it 66SIX, while the shrink tubing side worked perfectly, the foam rubber side allowed the nut to wobble.
When trying to get the bolt threaded into the nut, something went horribly wrong.
The foam rubber became compressed to atomic values, then was ejected from the battery terminal directly into my eye causing temporary blindness.
I was told by counsel that following advice on forums is done at the readers risk, and I will not be able to claim damages and hospital bills from you.
To all readers: When implementing the method promoted by 66SIX, always wear eye protection..... :naughty:
