DMV registration

Post by PureAloha »

Just wondering how people are registering their sprees or what ever if they dont have papers ? The bike is not stolen but was handed down/given through several people through the years of witch i only know one of the owners who never had any kinda of paper work. Ive been told by several people that if it was never registered then i could just simply go to the dmv and register it under my name ? all the vin tags and stickers are intact. any info would be appreciated. aloha

Depends on your state and it's laws. Some places it is easy, just expensive. While others is is cheap and easy. Others it takes and act of God. Call your DMV and ask them. They're the ones that know your state's laws on the subject.

just called the dmv and checked to see if it was reported stolen ( i knew it wasnt ) but just wanted to be 100% sure as it was given to me. They also said it was never registered so thats good now all i gotta do is get a failed safety inspection and get this form from the dmv stating when i bought it etc.

What is the purpose of the failed inspection? just to have a paper with the vin and your name on it?

Better yet, move to Arkansas where there are no papers or insurance. If it runs, you ride it.
