1985 honda spree wont start! please help

i just bought a 1985 honda spree scooter with alittle over 1,300 miles. it has clean gas, a clean carb (with clean jets) its getting spark and the engine is getting gas. it has a dead battery but im starting it manually with a electric drill. but the only problem is that it wont start!!!!? any ideas why? the engine turns over but wont even "pop" (if you know what i mean)

p.s when im starting it with the drill should i turn it clock wise or counter clock wise

no i havnt tried that i think it might be a wiring problem..? is there a way to check compression?

Compression tester . You can rent one from auto zone and get your money back when you bring it back. Or just buy one for future use.

i dont think its compression tho because it only has 1,330 miles and when turning the flywheel you could feel the compression

If it sat for awhile the rings could be stuck in the ring lands and not sealing good, it's worth a check.

yeah but i feel if it was the compression it would still run just badly.. and slowly... and were getting a good amount of spark from the spark plug so im not sure

Not necessarily, i had an 87 elite and put the rings on upside down, it wouldn't even try to start but when i flipped the rings it fired up no problem. If anything, it rules out a compression issue. Pull the plug and put small amount of fuel mix in the cylinder and see what happens?

Whats your compression reading? 120psi MINIMUM. I learned this the hard way an got an earfull from the one an only BEAR! Anything less and you need to pull off the cylinder to see whats causing the low compression issue.

it does not have low compression!! im pretty sure its a wiring problem like something is shorted out or something but im not sure were all the wires are suppose to go and if that even matters at all

Thats what i thought till i bought a compression tester and it read 92psi and if a wire was shorted you would not be getting spark! Good gas, blue spark, and good compression it should go pop.

compression on that scoot is 90 to 120 to run. Just beacuse it has low miles means nothing.

#test compression 90-120
# check for spark. unscrew the cap and see if the spark jumps on a ground.

If you actually have spark, then any wire problem is unrelated to the no start issue.
