Starting a 1984 spree rebuild

Post by Edlk »

I have a 19834 spree, 1000 original miles, it sat for 10 years, started and ran rough for a few days, and has been sitting ever since. I have collected a few new parts, gas tank, carb, cdi, brake shoes, air filter. I would greatly appreciate any advise as to what else should be broken down or replaced. Wiring and hoses are in good shape.
Should I break down the oil pump assembly, should I do anything to the cylinder?
Any suggestions would be welcomed

First thing I do is replace the fuel lines and put an online filter in. Even if they look fine. Small pieces of rubber play * on trying to keep your carb clean

How about the oil pump
Does it make sense to take it out give it a good cleaning and reinstall
The oil seems clean that was in the tank
