'92 Elite SR curiosity

Post by motormike »

.....Since I'm on this forum, I may as well own an Elite 50. I have found a '92 Elite SR locally for $325 asking....3,200 miles, never seen pavement, only farm....info indicates AF 05 E motor....please help me understand the de-restrictions and modifications typical with this motor....and importantly, HOW FAST in stock form?....... :urban:

I dont think the SR is restricted, but not completely sure since I have never messed with the variated af05 engine

http://www.motorscooterguide.net/Honda/ ... eSA50.html

the easiest upgrade is get a variator, you can get the ones for the af16 or 18 just reuse the variator boss. lighter weights for better acceleration, heavier for more top end :D

Mystic is correct, that is not a restricted scoot. 35-37mph in stock form on all of the one's I've owned.

Mods are
variators
BBK's (upper 60's CC range, I don't think there are any over 70cc anymore)
pipe (LV sp3 is most common)
se50 gears or modified dio gears
CT intake with adaptor plate
Metro rear wheel

Mike the 94-2001 is a better model with a better engine. The 92 is still a good scooter. Are you going to mod it up?

Wrong. The sa50 frame was sold in the USA from '88-01. It started as the Elite LX in '88 and in '92 it was the SR. The Elite S was not brought back until '94.

Since you have aeros the aero 80 manifold will bolt to the engine I believe so you can use the aero carb, ask Bear about this since he is more knowledgable about this than I since I own no aeros. since you can only get like a 63cc or 66cc?? kit for this the aero 80 carb would work fine without spending the 130 or so for a carb kit. The SP3 exhaust will be difficult to obtain for sure. I wonder bradthree was selling a daytona pipe that fit this motor I wonder if he still has it??

B3 closed his Daytona thread so I assume it is sold.

Welp, i Guess if you are handy with a welder you could get a YMS V8 and change the headers :D but only if you get a BBK not sure if it would have an advantage with a stock bore. Dont quote me but I think YMS makes a performance exhaust for stock-72cc but you would still need to cut the header, probably not worth the effort

Dude you need to slap in a dio motor n af16 dio mount. Plug n play wire! Don't waste time on mods on af05e use as a back up motor. Is that clear! :thumbwink:

Very clear, veedubh20....my goal, however, is not to mash-up a monster....but to enhance the stocker on a shoe-string budget. Take-off is the focus. This scoot will be used for playing soccer on a grass field.

I asked for HOW FAST in stock form to be able to determine the condition of the motor and driveline when I go to see this bike and test-ride.

When I am looking for some WOT fun on the city streets, my Aero 125 provides a full measure......... :thumbwink:
