Wanting to sell my spree...need help setting price.
Hi there guys,
I took ownership of a white 1984 Honda spree about 6 months ago. I got her from my next door neighbor who, after buying her in 1985 and riding her for only 799 miles, kept her in his garage until the day I bought her. She is as in pristine condition as the day I paid $700 for her (there are some scratches here and there on the side covers but they are barley noticeable). I have maintained her well, using only Honda gn-2 oil and regularly putting a bit of seafoam to prevent any gunk build up in the carbs. I put new 2.75 Bridgestone tires on the rear and have a another set, with a new tube, that I haven't installed on the front because it's still got a lot of life. She's currently @ 2,000 ish miles (I'm going to have to check once I get home). I really don't know what else to say, she runs perfect and she's bone stock with all the proper documentation.
I would like to keep her, seeing as she's my very first motorcycle, but I have upgraded to a 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250R and I feel bad letting her sit. So, I've decided to hand her over to someone who'll ride and appreciate her more and I need some input as to what a "reasonable" price tag would be. When I sell her, she'll also come with a brand new bridgestone 2.75-10 tire and tube and how ever many gn-2 oil bottles I have left (probably 1), and a 3/4 Medium sized helmet.
Any input will be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I have attached some random pics...don't know if they do her justice.

wow...30+ views and no one feels inclined to give me an estimate on what a "fair" price for the spree would be. I'm just going to go ahead and post an ad on craigslist for a $1000 and see where that gets me.
Thanks for all the help

It's only worth what a buyer is willing to pay. Too many factors in play. You're in Alabama and maybe you could get $1000. I'm in Michigan and i might give you $500. How's that for help?

I appreciate it bruh...I was only looking for an honest opinion, thanks for giving me yours. I have never sold anything, period, in America. I moved here 2 years ago and that's why I'm a bit hesitant (ignorant) about the whole thing. Thanks again.

I'm in Georgia and watch CL quite a bit. Rarely see any Sprees that clean but anything over 600 is gonna be tough. Generally, 400 - 500 for a running Spree in good shape is what to expect.

Have you tried searching Craigslist to get an idea what you could get in Alabama?
Or do like you said and start at $1000 and see if you get any bites. Better to start high since you know you will be asked to take less .

Re: Wanting to sell my spree...need help setting price.
tnx for chiming in guys.
Here in Mobile, my only competition are Chinese made scooters (and that's not a competition at all) and they go for about 800-1000 brand new. I think my well maintained and 'guaranteed reliability' spree stands a good chance. But, yeah, I think it's smart to start a bit higher up in the price range and then reluctantly drop (not by much, hopefully ).
tnx again.

I'd totally pick that up, but it's way too far of a drive to get it.

I just sold my mint 86 honda spree special for $780 and that took a month of constant reposting on craigalist. 1000 for a non kickstart spree is a little pricey imo. I also have my 86 gyro s for sale for 1k and im not getting any bites but im also here in ohio. Keep us posted

In neighboring Tennessee, Spree market price is $400-$500 running.....I am looking at one('84) tomorrow with under 1k miles for $250, not running. Your magnificent looking rare color bike should fetch the best price around $700-$800... ....hope this is true for you.....

That bike looks great. I agree with asking 1,000 OBO (or best offer)
While it is unlikely you will get that much, it all depends on how much someone wants it.
thats still a lot cheaper than if they go into the honda dealership. but 7-8 hundred is prob a
realistic expectation.

Re: Wanting to sell my spree...need help setting price.
Thanks for all the replies guys.
Didn't consider the effect of the seasons but now that you guys have brought it to my attention, I am going to drain the carb in preparation for a possibly long wait. I've been a bit busy, but am going to go ahead and post an ad on CL as soon as I can take better pics. $700-$800 seems to be the consensus here, so an amount in that range is going to be my "final" price. Anyway, thanks for the outpouring of comments/advice. I appreciate it.
Peace.
